I have been beating my head against the wall for a year and a half trying to figure out why my truck didn't run like all of yours do. I had even begun to think everyone was full of it.
I have been to 3 different shops each time stating that the truck was low on power and got 12mpg on the highway empty. All of these shops were self proclaimed dodge 12v experts one was even featured in a few diesel magazines. Every time i got the truck back I was out $400-$500 and they told me "it runs like a scalded dog" and that it was a "night and day difference". I was told I had the wrong turbo, valve lash was off, exhaust manifold was too restrictive and that the injectors were worn out. After considerable expense I replaced the turbo, exhaust, ran an overhead 3 times and had the injectors rebuilt. All of this and no change. #@$%!
Finally I found the answer. Cord Reynolds in Pahrump Nevada. He made no promises but got right into the AFC housing. We found the previous shops "custom plate" to be a very jagged very crooked attempt at a #10 plate. Cord replaced the plate and adjusted the settings on plate and the AFC housing. Bingo, we went for a test drive and the truck hauled but. I was so happy I had him put in my GSK. Now the truck not only hauls some serious butt, it also picked up 2. 6mpg. All of this was done with no trial and error. He nailed it the first time. Oo.
The biggest problem I have now trying not to break my transmission with all of the torque. I honestly believe he gained over 100hp on my truck. I am now a believer in the 12v. I just can't believe that after 3 shops and $3500 all it took was someone to tune it right.
