Well my woes date back to late December of '04 when the LP died. This was replaced right away. In March of this year, a frame mounted pusher pump, and hose from the tank forward through the filter and regulator to the VP were installed, predominately using free flowing fittings. This was done while replacing the VP which was beginning to exhibit symptoms of dying a slow death, confirmed with the infamous code. Next, in April the ECM blew it's cookies. I tried a few different configurations during the summer which produced mixed results, none of them worked out that great. Unfortunately, I contribute a portion of the results to improperly installing the VP which damaged the key. After replacing three gauges and a pillar mount, then upgrading the turbo... . a valve seat went on a crunchy ride through the motor, wiping out two pistons a cylinder enroute. Fortunately the 1/2 piece of seat was found in the turbo before it did any further damage.
I got really lucky on getting the motor repaired.
On the brighter side, I am estatic to report that the truck's full potential power is restored. I put 500 miles on the new motor during the past few weeks while running stock injectors without the comp. I babied it the first 200 and practiced considerable restraint for the next 150. From 350 to 500 I drove it "normal" and stuck my foot in the go pedal several times. Right about this time I really started missing the old power curve.
Frank and I installed M4. 5s today, they are definately an improvement. The drag comp is also back in action now. This was a challenge due to a considerable struggle starting with a broken wire at the box plug and ending with a major brainfart on the map connector.
An odd situation appeared today. Three seperate times the boost was climbing to 50psi until I got off the throttle. The weird thing is that I am wastegated at 42psi. I'll have to be carefull while I figure this out.
It also looks like I need to get the studs and boots installed sooner than later. I chickened out on installing the studs today.
These injectors are really cool! Smoke can be controlled depending on how hard I roll into the throttle, even on 5x5.
Stomping the pedal produces the expected results.
Today's test drive was a blast! The truck both idles and runs very smooth. The top end isn't too shabby either
A helluv alot of TDR friendship went into getting my truck straighted out this year. Ain't it great?
