Ladies and gentlemen, I think that I have finally built my truck the way I've always wanted. Had I not had another truck to rob all of the parts off of, this would of been a lot worse of a project. As much as I hated doing it, it was time for me to say goodbye to the old '93 W350. It served us well. With that said, I can't imagine trying to gather up all of the neccessary parts to do a 4x4 conversion. Even though I was about to throw in the towel a few times,... . I am very pleased with the end result. Oo. I think that I've already used 4x4 a half-dozen times.

What did you do to raise the back? Change blocks? Or the whole spring pack?

I know he got new springs all around, with about 4" of lift up front. Probably just used the blocks from Brownie.

Very sweet Chris. Is there any reason you did not stay with the dually wheels on the front? I always wondered about having 2 spares for the truck. Although I have never had to change a tire on my truck along the road, I gaurantee I'd have the wrong spare with a truck like yours. :-laf



I rode in that truck when it was 2wd, and I really want to go for a ride in it now. Seems to me we're going to have to meet somewhere, sometime.

Thanks a bunch guys for the kind words. I have to say though, it seems like I can't stop working on this thing. I went for an inspection yesterday, and the guy said, "ohh man, that truck looks great,... by the way, it won't pass with the small crack in the pass. side brake hose. #@$%! Oh, and last night I was pulling my dump trailer, which was loaded slighty heavy and when I got to the top of the hill, the throttle was stuck @ wide open!!!! After I got it shut down and pulled over, I opened the hood to find the idle screw had lost its jam nut and was backed out holding the throttle all the way open.



Pete, I got new springs all the way around and used the lift block from the other truck like Daniel said. Oh, and what are you waiting for, put those parts on. :-laf



Michael, my buddy in Indiana talked me into a 10" wheel, and at the time he didn't know that we would have to change out the hubs to get rid of the dually adapter. It just happend to turn out that he recently acquired a '93 250 that he was going to part out, so I got luckly and got the 3/4 ton hubs. I have to say, I do like the look of the wide tire in the front, but man was it a pain. It took all day of changing out the front hubs, and studs and spacers in the back. Oh, and it rides like thisOo. I forgot who it was that used to have in his sig that he loves his somilian t*t strecher, but that is a perfect description. :-laf



Philip, I was suprised myself to see how well the truck cleaned up. Bill and Matt were dissappointed that the SOP mobile workbench is so tall now. :-laf

So what studs did you use? Please tell me you did not down grade to the 1/2" studs. So the 4x4 is more bouncy now? Maybe its time to go to the skyjacker softrides and less block in the rear to tame it down.



Daniel, a few weeks ago I drove clear down to Springfield Mo, ejected the rear drive shaft, fixed it, and then loaded(manhandled) a pickup flatbed onto a car trailer and drove home. My 93 knocked down 15 mpg on winter fuel, towing a car trailer at 75 mph. I bought a 8' flatbed with headache rack, lights, and gooseneck hitch for $300 last summer, and finally went a got it. I thought about calling you, but it was a spur of the moment decision to go the day I went.
