Hi Friends, It's good to be back and now after two 2nd Gen's and one 3rd Gen Gas now a proud member of the third Generation Crowd. Just arrived 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Heavy Duty Quad Cab 4x4.

I'm looking for info/opinions on bombing this Common Rail Trucks,, i got to be the local authority on 24valve truck in my home town, and that was only because i could come to all of you guy's and get the answers

I'm trying to deside which box to go with,, I was very tickled with the EDGE COMP on my 2001 HO. I plan to keep stock exhaust but use the muffler elimantor kit from Geno's to open it up a little and do something similar to a BHAF to get the clean air in,,, I've read good things about the TST powermax and the Edge Juice,,, Looking for some insite

I have really enjoyed the TST, It is probably the first mod I would do along with an AFE stage 2 cold air intake, if I had to do it all over again. Then maybe stack the TST with the Smarty Downloader. Of course you will need to address the transmission at some time.

I just really enjoy the TST and smarty stack. I am sure others will chime in with thier experiences and setups too.

I have an 05 and i have put on geno's M. E. kit and i like how it sounded it's well worth the money to get the extra sound and it breaths a little better too, Some people on here say it sounds obnoxious, but i think it sounded great (not loud enough for me). After i put the m. e. kit on, i wanted it a little bit louder so i bought mbrp's cat test pipe to replace the cat, Thats was the sound i was looking for ,it's loud and i love it. When towing with a full straight pipe it's annoying, but i don't tow much. But as i remember with only the m. e. kit it wasn't that bad.

For power addition, i put on the smarty. One reason i got this is because it's supposidly the only programmer that is dealer non detectable, also the throttle response and power is unbelievable even on the lowest 30 horse setting. Also i can lay a cloud of soot but it's very controllable with these new updates marco has put out. One thing about the smarty that not very many of the other companies do if any, they are constantly working on updates to work on better driveability. Theirs probably been 3 or 4 updates in the last 6 months alone. Also you can get tailored programs if you have a heavily modified truck or if you want to in the future. I think the 07 smarty update will be out very soon as i remember from reading on here. One bad thing is you can't change power on the fly like you can with a tst. I have also heard good things about tst but i personally don't like add on boxes that trick the ecm, i like the (smarty) ones.

Have fun bombing and a happy new year.

I really love my TST, but on a brand new truck I'd stick with a smarty. Talk to your dealer and see if they are ok with you adding gauges. If so, I'd suggest a pillar with fuel pressure, pyro, and a mechanical boost gauge. You'll be set right from the start. Oh yeah, go with a 60 psi fuel press and boost, because you'll likely need them if you frequent this forum.

Back also after three years !!

Our 1st Dodge was a 91 4 X 4 auto, then a 95 stick 4 X 4 extended cab.

With the 91 we always had to put the camper on if we were taking the kids and any of our big dogs " Bernese Mountain Dogs" the 95 was better but hard to get the dogs in and out.

After some long trips my bad knees convinced me we needed another auto, of course hauling the dogs in the back seat area was easy and help convince the wife we needed to make the change. :)

So the 2003 Auto 4 door 4 X 4 came home and the back seats came out and a nice area was made for the dogs. Of course the kids were long gone so did not have to worry about a place for them.

Ive said it once and I'll say it again, I LOVE my TST with the adjustable programs. Either way, wether you go with the TST or the Smarty, you'll be happy. One thing I should note is the TST is adjustable on the fly where the Smarty is not. But the Smarty can be turned to stock and require no removal of an external box so you can take it into the dealer for (NON MOTOR OR DRIVETRAIN ISSUES!) warranty work such as electrical issues or something like that. I feel that if your door handle falls off, your warranty shouldnt be voided because you had a box on it and they leave it to you to replace the door handle, but if your motor fails thats your own fault. Sorry for the rambling, some people get testy around here about taking a box off for warranty work so I had to clarify.

Anyway I have the TST and have had no problems at all for over 40k. All the power I want, and adjustble on the fly, with room to grow with supporting mods. I love it! It just doesnt have the flashy monitor like the Edge Juice, but the adjustability over the Edge is far more superior IMO. Good luck with whatever you decide.

It mostly throws the crank and cam sensor codes at the same time but sometimes it also ammuses me with an open injector circuit code just to break things up. Funny thing is it will go thousands of miles w/o any problem and then throw codes until I reseat the TST's connectors a few times.

I think the pins are too small but I should add that this is one of the earliest TST's and I have never let them update s/w. I dont know if the new ones are as bad.
