The Country Greates

If you havent heard, we have been getting flooded, and this place is starting to look like a swamp! Lake Travis is over 66 miles long, and it has gone up over 6 feet in the last few days. I have gotten around 12 inches of rain since Saturday at my house. San Antonio has recieved 1/3rd of its yearly rainfall in the last few days with some parts getting over 15 inches of rain. A low pressure system stalled over top of us, and the gulf has been pumping moisture into it since Saturday.

This is typical of Texas weather. We have two weather patterns. Drought and flood.

Would you please tell it to hurry? We have a July 4th iRV2 Texas Boomers RV rally in Austin over the holidays, and we really could use some nice weather. :)

Hmmm... I wonder how deep the mud is in the RV park? Maybe I should have gotten 4WD after all.

I have had 16 inches so far, my front yard looks like a swimmin hole right now. I took some pictures of the river about 1/8 mile away from my home and it crawled out of it's banks by about 20 feet. Late yesterday we were trapped in our neighborhood as the road was covered in 1 foot of water movin pretty swift. Now it looks like I am gonna have to mow now..... Bummer. So far the only bad thing to come of it was 3 inches of water in my garage.

raining

My wife's family lives in Wimberley, a small town on the Blanco River about 40 miles from Austin. You have to cross either the river or a creek, both on low bridges, to get to the house.

The water has been way over the bridges since sometime Saturday. Good thing they had some extra groceries.

This is a good example of why Texans pray for rain 90 percent of the time and pray it will stop 10 percent of the time.

Hope you all are alright down there, up here in the "Transistion Zone"... ... . well, we are frying. :D Last year at this time, we had 30" of water, this year 15" of water. Yesterday was 105* at 4:30pm, and the heat index yuppy meter was over that. It is either feast or famine I guess, I am just glad I could close my landscaping business before I went out of business :(

I know what yall mean. It rained twice on me coming back back from Oklahoma, once for 3 hours and once for 4 hours. It was so heavy at times I drove in granny gear for about two miles.

The rain has stopped for the most part, but Lake Travis (the one I mentioned in the first post ) has risen over 15 feet since Saturday. Its 2 feet from full, and I think it is going to get up to capacity before the week is over. Boating should be GREAT !!!!!

Thats that same crap we gat last week. Finally drying out. Now it stinks to hi H-ll. Also a bumper crop of skeeters too.

Woo Hoo, last night was the 1st night without thunderstorms in almost 1 full week. Maybe we're starting the drying out process. Medina Lake came within about 16 inches of flowing over the dam, and Canyon Lake is releasing about 233 times the normal flow. If you haven't seen the news, it's been pretty bad. They even showed some houses floating down the river. The aquifer came up over 25 feet, almost overnight. Looks like we might get a couple of dry days, and then more rain is forcast. At least it's not supposed to be that Gulf low pressure system camping over us though.

Rain=mosketters If ya want some come on down. Went out in pasture yesterday evening by tank and look out sketters. I had so much spray on me I was a shinning. Bite you everwhere, fly up my big nose,in my ears. I don't know which is growing faster, skeeters or the grass.
