clean ford trucks are a dime a dozen

what i'm looking for is a clean rust free body and a 12 v with under 150 k on it

stick shift no autos for me. 4x4 would be nice

they are vary hard to find in south florida

thanks

Why not look for a 3rd gen 24V Dodge with a six speed manual.

By the way, you would be well advised to get rid of that K & N filter and go to a Fleetguard stock filter.

I agree--I actually offered a $100 finders fee for a 96-98 12v truck in a thread here on the TDR site and never heard a peep!

The sad fact is that they're only going to get harder to find...

You'll find quite a few on autotrader.com

There was a dealer in Nashville last week who had a 1994 4x4 5speed reg cab with 22k original miles for sale. Dont know if its still available or not but they were asking almost $21,000 for it.

I found a 95 on craigslist in Albuquerque for $3,500. 00. Little far from Florida, but typically car and trucks from the Southwest have no rust.

CLEAN?? mine is clean - been drivin through 12" of a pond that overflowed onto the road in Plymouth MA for 3 weeks (NO LIE - ask Plymouth's finest), so mines clean… OMG not what you meant - sorrry!!!!

They can be found; but not easily unless you're broke!

My son has one all scoped out and is anxious to get some cash to buy it. A '96 x-cab, 5-speed, 4x4 exactly like mine, but all decked out with Banks go-fast stuff. No significant rust for an Iowa truck, either. It sat out by the road 'for sale' for a couple months a year ago, then disappeared, and we just figured it sold. A few weeks ago, my kid spotted it back in the woods behind the guy's barn where it is just sitting and stopped to ask about it. It is still for sale.

Apparently, the guy has plenty of money and just parked the truck behind the barn when he bought a new one and the '96 did not sell right away. He's asking $5k and the kid is going crazy figuring out where a 16-year-old can make that kind of money in one summer.

It's a guarantee I would have a line on a good deal for one right now. I know this because every time I'm strapped financially, great deals on things I have looked for for a long time start popping up everywhere! :D Such as that absolutely perfect-for-me Bigfoot camper that I watched sell for @ half what it was worth recently. Or the dana 60 axle housing my other truck needs for $100. Or the Advance Adapters NV4500 to NP205 adapter kit...

All of these things are hard to find and even harder to find good deals on. But as soon as I don't have the money, there they all are! If i have money, i can't find what I want. Never fails...

Murphy's Law Rules All

That's where you're at now: You have money so you cannot find the right truck. I suggest you give that money to me and you will then find the deals I can't. :-laf :D

Vaughn... .

You can find the "clean" 12v 5spd you want, they are there.

HOWEVER...

Those of us who have them will not give them away and know what they are worth.

There is however an answer to your problem sadi along time ago by someone else.....

"ANYTHING is for sale, all you need to do is stroke the check"

Oh wait...

You said under 150k on it... Thats leaves mine out... BUT,I dare you to find a cleaner 12v thats daily driven... ... ... Andy

See this is a classic case and one you read and see alot... .

Many guys/gals think that they can buy a "clean" 12v truck for a very good price and I am certain that if they look,I am sure they can. HOWEVER,when you stumble upon that one owner who knows what he has, knows how hard it really is to find a clean one like the one he owns, you may pay alot more than what you intended for that truck.

Many think that just becuase we own the older trucks we should give them away at or lower than book value. I just had this discussion at a recent event I attended where I had a youngster who was inquiring about mine. When he was told that anything is for sale and for him to stroke the check he was shocked when I laughed at his low ball offer.

The young man give me the old "Well KBB online says that a 12v truck your age and miles is only worth xxxxxx". I simply put told him to go find one as clean with all the work already done to it and then buy it as I would allow mine to sit and rot before I would give it away.

Many of us older truck owners have spent years working on them and fixing all of Ma Mopar's silly little mousetraps. At the cost of what we have done thoughout the years to the trucks imagine the cost if we had to do what he have done already now to them. I shudder to think of todays cost of parts and redoing all of that work in todays market.

So I am with you HSmith, its mine, paid for since 2001,has all the mousetraps fixed and done and only available to the right buyer IF he strokes the check the right way. Otherwise I keep driving and enjoying the fruits of the work we have put into them over the years... ... ... Andy

I went through that same process when I bought mine. I had the KBB and NAPA guides and this truck I liked was simply overpriced - I first thought.

Problem was, it had all the "fixes" already done, had been exceptionally well cared for its whole life, and was for sale by a TDR member!

I paid the above book price for it without haggle, and have been so very happy with it, then found the same thing that you spoke of. The decent clean ones are simply going for more than the book values shown. I gave 10k for mine several years ago and have put on 100k since I got it. I really have no clue what it is worth today, but if I were to sell it, it seems to me that it would still be worth a price in the neighborhood of what I bought it for.

Just click on the Photo Gallery link at the left side and see if you don't agree.

Let's see:

You can't get a 12V 5. 9 anymore.

You can't get a true Quad Cab (suicide rear doors) anymore.

Why sell? I like what I have & can't get a replacement that's any better than what I already have- NOT FOR SALE AT ANY PRICE (until I'm gone!).

I have to agree if you want a good clean low mileage 12 Vavle you will have to pay the price. There are some 12 vavle owners out there that are uninformed that mite sell for less.

If you have any dealers that specialize in pickup trucks you mite look there, we have several in the Orlando area.

Have a customer that picked up a nice 2007 6. 7, 3500, drw, Mega Cab, low mileage (under 50,000) for a song and dance from a Pickup Dealer.
