Competition #2 Only... DD2's... = 13.20et

Competition 700+ hp club

Picking on fairly fast cars while pulling hills with sharp corners that is.

Today it was a newer T-Top Camaro SS. He first got a smoking when I put the hammer down and he was behind me (his top was open which helped the cause). Obviously he got in front of me due to the sharp corners and the center of gravity difference. He went straight though, which leads to an 8% grade hill... I followed suit and when we got through traffic he had about a 100 yard lead on me. I hammered down, as did he, and as I was slowly gaining (we were already at 90 MPH, and I was starting to catch up) I checked the EGT's and sure enough, pyro was straight down!!! Decided I wasn't going to show him anything too special, so I backed out and held them at 1500*F. At this level he never gained on me, and I couldn't gain on him, so I called it quits... figure if he wants to make a run in the 1/4, we can do it some other time. I think if I had been in front or at least if we had been side-by-side it would have been a different story, but once he got in front in the corners, I just couldn't keep her sticking to the road good enough to catch up. Felt the inside pick up a little too much for my liking one time and decided that was enough of the road-racing Cummins!!

Last week the Audi S4, this week a Camaro SS... think I'll go back to picking on rice... these sport cars w/o the fart cans are getting the best of me.

Josh

P. S. 5000' elevation isn't helping my EGT situation at all!!!

i haer you brother, every time i try to race a vroom vroom i end up missing third. wish i could do third gear take offs, the comp and 275s are too much for the stock clutch, i always end up catching them and then the pyro is buried i know the feeling. mustangs are the big issue arouond here, they are every were cant pull up to a light without one wanting to run, a south bend will shut their pie holes up though, with third gear take offs, (I hope anyway)

tad

Oh he!l... I don't get to line up at lights against these guys... none will race me that way! They all have to be running 55 or better before we get to have a go at it.

If I get traction in 2x4 off the line, Mr. Camaro better have something special going on if he's gonna take me for the first 3 gears. :) After that, well, they can have all the top end they want, cause after 110 and 120 MPH, it's pointless for me w/ 3. 54 to try and run them upwards of 130 MPH.

Josh

it wont flip over that easily in a corner, it will slide first. I was gonna try scca solo2 with my truck a few years ago, and practiced before I got there. Mine pushed if I corner too hard, then gets loose when I hamer on it. For some reason the scca guys didnt let me run, must have been scared of a 7000lb truck outrunnin some ricers. But I met all of the rules in their book.

hehehe... .

I know what the sliding vs. rolling feeling is. Both rears slide every single time I run someone up that hill. Today, I was sliding and had to steer harder to stay in my lane cause he was on the outside... inside started to pick up too much for my liking, so I backed out of it and let him have it. When you're turning hard left, then go back hard right, the pitch/roll of the 1500 lbf on the front axle gets to me. I'm not a fan of it at 60 MPH, so I just let 'em have there glory.

What I get a kick out of though, even when I don't whoop one of these guys, is that they think they've accomplished something in their bone stock sports car!! They're sitting there patting themselves on the back for beating me in my 7400 lbf truck!!! Just once I'd like for one of them to look over at me at the next stoplight after not being able to outrun me... IT NEVER HAPPENS!!! I don't know if they just don't wanna go again, or if they're just too proud to realize they just had a run in with a 13. 7 second diesel!

Josh

i had a ricer pull up beside me one day, the dude in the passanger seat scoped out my piller so they determined that it was just for looks. (could tell by the way they were laughing) i looked to see what i was up against and noticed a sticker that said got boost. well any way we blew out the hole burned him by at least three or four truck links then i pulled in to mcdonals for a victory mcflurry. he pulls in behind me and say how many pds of boost you runnin 8 or 10. i just said a few and walked off. how stupid can you bee. he would have thought i was lying if i told him 40.

The local weather in Portland has not been conducive to street racing at all!

I have been running around town with the BB off, and the EZ in the softest setting... . I still have trouble on the wet streets.

I can not try to gun down anything without the rear stepping out... . a 5th gear 60 MPH tail waggle in traffic is not cool!

I had a stock '04 CTD beat me light to light... just because I could not put the power to the ground (I was still in 2hi)

Putting the EZ on the aggressive setting and turning the BB on, and even sixth gear steps out on me... all it talkes is a seam in the pavement, and all hades brakes loose!

It's a good thing that it is a clear day out..... :D

I think you need to go over to our Fall Brawl thread and look at the little rice rocket with the fart can that spun for us and re-think your position some. You may end up with bad nightmares as the little 1. 6 VTec rolls past you very fast(507HP,supercharged,no giggle gas,all motor)..... LOL... ..... Andy

BTW. . There were many who seen it lay the number down...

There are a few around P Town like that.

Anything that has an "Excessive Motorsports" window sticker "may" hand you butt to you, especially Ralph's 700 HP giggle gassed RX7!

I have some friends w/ turbo charged B18s and H22s (GSR and prelude engines). And they are FAST!!! If a ricer has a wing or massive body kit or chrome wheels it is most definately going to lose. Real tuners see these as insults to their hondas.

hellll guys just get a truck with some hips on it and take everything out of your pockets so you can grow some big balls and see what a Dually can do it the turns [no rain though :D ]... . ever see a 6 wheeler do a 6 wheel drift and back it thru the turns... quite a thrill. . they don't lean over like the 2500's... might be the E ticket to the mountain racing guys. . wanta go for a ride

whoa whoa whoa!!!!

You guys have got me ALL WRONG!!! I strongly believe that there is a difference between "rice" and a very impressive foreign car (usually from Japan).

The punk kids here at my school that throw the fart can on, and the big wing, and the go-fast stickers are rice! Their cars honestly have less torque then my lugnuts require. :)

Someone who puts a lot of time and effort into their vehicle, knows what they're talking about when it comes to their engine, understands how exhaust back pressure corresponds to power in a gas engine, and isn't afraid of the "big, loud diesel truck" has all the respect in the world from me. Would I race them? Yeah, in a heartbeat! Would I lose? Yeah, more then likely! Remember though, we have a minimum of a 3500 lbf disadvantage when it comes to running these guys. If they don't respect me for having 450 RWHP and 900 ft-lbf torque, then I don't respect them!

The guys who know their stuff when it comes to rice are few and far between. I've only met one here where I go to school that actually runs his ricer on the track, and it is decently fast (not 12's, but mid to low 13's). I like talking to the guy, cause he knows his stuff and realizes what it takes to do what I do with my truck, just as I realize what it takes to do what he's done with his car. He doesn't have the huge wing (or any wing for that matter), doesn't have the huge fart-can exhaust (has an aftermarket exhaust, but it sounds and looks stock).

I refer you to this thread for my take on "rice" vs. fast imports... Snowest thread I go by RMK7SledHead on there, and that is what I think of nice imports.

What just repulses me is Saturns w/ wings and body kits. For instance I saw a few tonight. One had flip lambo doors which add at least 500 lbs. Well for some reason I just can't stop myself from hollaring obscenities out the window at these fags. Please ladies and gentlemen keep the wings OFF the family cars please!!!

CumminFast... funny thing about that is the one kid here at school (same kid as my previous post) drives a Saturn. It is very nice looking (as far as imports go) and he takes good care of it.

From my limited experience, most of the rice I see is of the Honda or Nissan variety.

Josh

hey what can you say about them most of them have big egos. they learn to grow up when they get smoked out it is all fun and games. there are very few and far between cars that can pull that kind of numbers none here. i raced one with 150 shot (the ricer not my truck) smoked his A@# they arent that bad if you can make your truck hook up. me i am out of racing for a while the comp has got the best of little betsy stock clutch.

You guys are lucky nobody around here in mustangs want to race me I had 2 of them turn me down tonight, the only fun Ive had this week was smoking a corvette on the interstate, and a few junky ricers.

smokin dodge,

come on across the bridge to my neck of the woods only 20 minutes from louisville. there everywere (mustangs that is) those things are fun races. i know of at least ten to fifteen that would love to line up come on over ill set you up.

Last race I go into on the intersate was a 2003 Mustang GT.

It was pretty quick, but he was 3 lengths behind and losing.

The fun slows in Denver CO.

DENVER -- The Denver Police Department is cracking down on "street racing," where participants use city streets to stage illegal races between cars.

Video

Sunday night, dozens of officers surrounded a street racing contest in the 200 block of Rio Grand Boulevard and made 50 arrests. Fifty-five citations were issued and 10 vehicles were towed, according to police.

Arrests were made for trespassing on private property, traffic charges and several outstanding warrants.

The Police Department said it was a careless and dangerous activity and street racing is a violation of numerous state and local laws.
