Hey jd collectors. Got a ? I found a nice jd B for sale. But it doesn't have a tag on it. Will this hurt future resale value. Thanks Rhino 50

Generally the tractors are worth more with the tag (unless they are rare). If your goal is to buy and resell the tractor to make money I would probably stay away from it. Buy and keep it does not matter. Another way to look at it: Would you pay the same price for an old muscle car that has matching numbers as you would for one that had a new motor or transmission? The other thing on the B, they made them so long, there were alot of changes during the production run. Depending on what you may need for parts, you may need the number.

Depending upon the hood, frame, etc you can figure out roughly where it falls in the serial number ranges. Ma Deere has kept very through records as to numbers and if you contact the right people with casting numbers etc. you can get a new one through your local Deere dealer. We have only done this once in 2 yrs and I do not remember the details bet that is the other option. IMHO if it is a stamped frame steer very clear of it as those were so rigid that they were brittle and break easily.
