Jack knife while backing up ???

I don't have this problem because of all the years I spent moving and towing aircraft around.



I am curious if anybody can point me to anyone that makes a detection system that would warn the driver when he is getting close to breaking or hurting something in and around the hitch points, during sharp manuvers while backing up?



This would be between the truck and trailer.

A home made item is the only thing I could come up with. A 12V proximity switch on each side with a home made brackets with relays activating lights and/or a warning buzzer. Hardest part would be the brackets and maybe the sensing distance of the prox. Also maybe something along the lines of the backup detectors which may be ultrasonic. Sounds like some money could be made with the latest in gadgets.

Yep, I was looking on line to see if someone already had made one of these. I have an idea for one, but was not interested in re-inventing an item that might already be in use.



So it looks like I have a couple of good solid items to develop now when I take my 5 weeks for back surgery in Feb. This will keep me busy with my C&C plasma cutter and welder and we will see what we can come up with that looks good and functions well.
