I was watching a televsion show produced by the BBC in the UK called "Top Gear" last night with my sons. I believe there is an American version as well, but I have not seen it.
The show features the expected amazing cars (e.g., Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.) but has all types of other vehicles as well. There is also always a segment where the three hosts of the show are off doing some ridiculously stupid thing (which looks like it would be great fun to do, incidentally - this proves that you outgrow being a child but you are never too old to be childish).
Anyhow, on this episode the deal was to be trying to outrun some UK Special Forces types in a small SUV of some sort (can you guess who won
?). The show was reviewing the military vehicles, one of which is called a Jackal. They noted that the Jackal had a 5.9 liter diesel engine, and the camera gave a quick shot of an inline engine. I hit the pause button, and - sure enough - there in a corner was the Cummins symbol!
A web search shows that the UK has since redesigned the Jackal vehicle and the new version uses the Cummins 6.7L.
The mighty Cummins carries on! O
o.
I could not see a lot on the television screen, but it did appear that there was an intercooler. I assume there is no EGR, catalyst, and DPF though!
