I have 02 HO 6spd and am looking to buy/install a Jake Brake. Jacobs seems to be the one Cummins prefers sooo, does anyone have a suggestion as to how difficult the install is and how much I can expect to pay for the unit? Names of vendors is appreciated (excluding the dodge dealer);)

I have a friend that just upgraded to a b1 turbo so he had to lose the jacobs brake.

If you would consider a used one in excellent condition shoot me a pm

I haven't done it but other posts seem to suggest that the most frustrating part is installing the vacumn pump and getting the new belt around it.

I have installed one on my own truck and helped with the installation of one on TDR member Tazzen's truck recently. The Jacobs/Mopar kit comes with very clear instructions. Overall the installation should take you and a buddy between 3-4 hours to complete without rushing. You could do it yourself, but it wouldn't hurt to have an extra set of hands there for a couple of the steps.

BTW, there is no additional vacuum source or belt to contend with on an '02. The vacuum to operate the system is taken from the current vacuum line that is located on the drivers side rear of the engine. The vacuum line and the wiring harness is contained within one bundle. You simply disconnect the current vacuum line at the specified connector, insert a "y" included in the kit, and then connect the vacuum line for the unit.

If you have any specific questions about the installation or the unit itself, let me know.

Simple install with no special tools required. Just take your time and you will have no problems. The kit includes everything you will need. Mine took 3-4 hours to install. Good luck, Phil :D
