Need Different 1991 5 Speed Manual Transmission

I have a 2002 Ram 2500 2WD with H. O. engine and 6 SPD trans. Can ya'll give me a suggestion as to where the best purchase source would be for the Jacobs Brake? (please don't say dodge dealer!) Are there any tricky install problems or tips that would make the install go easier? Lookin forward to any and all comments.

I purchased mine directly from Jacobs. May have not been the best place but was a rookie diesel owner at the time; did not even know about TDR. Installation was easy except for Jacobs forgot to thread the mounting holes in the brake and I did not notice it until in the middle of mounting it, had to tap the holes but once that done no problem. :--) Talked to Jacobs and they appologized and sent me goodies like little flashlights, key chains, stuff to make up for the trouble. My truck was a 2001 so not sure if installation the same for the 2002 but if it is a piece of cake. :)

I purchased mine here. Install is pretty straight forward.

The one part of the instructions want you to tap into the cig. lighter for the switch. I could not get mine out and did not want to destroy it in the process. After removing the cup holder I found the cig. lighter harness behind it and soldered the wires together. That was the only difficult part. Tapping into the ECM I used an Oxyacetaline tip cleaner to push the blank out of the plug that gives you the Idle/off idle signal.

I did purchase mine for a Dodge dealer. I priced several sources, including Cummins Northwest, in Spokane, Wa. , and Jacobs, I bought the whole kit from Dave Smith Dodge, Kellog, Id. Just over $1100. 00. Easy install. Jerry Henry

I am going to have to say a Dodge Dealers also... Mechanicsville Dodge in Virginia, outside of Richmond... I was quoted a price around $1100. 00 as well from them. Their number is: 804-559-4400

Send TDR member Bob Wagner a PM - he may have a line on a used one. I got mine slightly used from him for waaaayyyyy less $$ than the new prices quoted, and it has worked flawlessly.
