Will the AFE Stage 1 intake work with the Jacobs Exhaust brake?

In reading the installation instructions, the vacuum solenoid assembly is mounted in the same general area where the end of the filter is.

How tight is the clearances when the brake is installed with a 4" exhaust.

Thanks,

Troy

It will fit just fine. There will be at least an inch or so clearance between the end of the filter and the solenoid assembly, assuming that you place the selenoid according to the supplied templet.

Since the brake assembly directly replaces the elbow on the back of the turbo, there should not be any clearance issues concerning the exhaust side. I've found that it is easier to install the brake on the turbo side first (a little easier to properly align the gasket by yourself). The downpipe should then slip into place fairly easily.

I helped a friend install a Jacobs exhaust on a 1998. 5 with AFE stage 1 and 4 inch exhaust. You will have to remove the filter when installing the pneumatics but clearance is not a problem after they are installed. At least 1 inch or better clearance. He already had a four inch exhaust installed and the old elbow removed easily without even loosening the exhaust anywhere except at the elbow. And the Ebrake went in just as easily. The installation instructions for the brake are right on the money without any hidden surprizes. Only suggestion would be to do the shifter switch as my friend did not and wishes he had just for ease of on off. Good luck on the install.

His installation took about four hours from start to finish.

Can you splice a shifter switch in line with the supplied dash switch, basically using the dash switch as a master switch?

If anyone has installation photos I would like to see them.

Yes you can splice it in with the supplied switch, that's exactly how I did it, works great!!! Best thing I ever put on the truck! I wouldn't have the brake without the gear knob switch!
