Has anyone here been following the new Jaguar Ingenium diesel engines in the new Jaguar XE 20D? They are rated at 180 HP and 318 lb/ft tq and have an epa estimated 42 mpg highway rating.

My local dealer has 8 2017's in stock and I'm just itching to drive one. Sticker prices range from approx $37K for a rear wheel drive version and $40K for AWD. I know this is higher than what the VW TDI's were selling for, but could this be the TDI replacement that so many people are looking for?

Saw it mentioned on "Motorweek" TV show, but don't see many new Jags at all around here.
I would venture to say if this is a proven platform from Britain, like the TDI was proven from Germany, I would trust it. If this is a new design from Tata, I'd be cautious.

From what I've read, it is an in house Tata design using an aluminum block. I just find it interesting that MB, Chrysler, and others are having such difficulty getting their 2017 diesels certified for sale by the EPA and these things are all over the lots here.

I think things are about to turn around, thanks to the new admin. I would also like to think the new Jag push is related to Brexit, and us helping them.
