On the Cummins website they stated that Dodge did not recommend a exhaust brake on a auto trans. Does anyone make a exhaust brake for a autotrans. A friend of mine had a 2nd gen Dodge Diesel and his only complaint about it was wearing out the brakes a lot. I think he had a autotrans and as far as I know the truck was completly stock.

A search of this site will show that, in January of 2004, "the word" is that the Jacobs will be "authorized" on the 2004 48REs.

There have been a few installed on 2003s. ;)

Jacobs, Pac, etc all make an e-brake that will work with the 48re and be effective. That does not seem to be the issue. DC has not yet authorized that install because of unknown shortened life of the transmission, so if you put one on and the transmission fails it is likely it will not be covered under warranty from DC. If you are OK with that risk, you have some choices. The Jacobs is vacuum powered. Pac and others are air powered. Both require an add-on pump, but with an air pump you can get other options like air horns and a line for filling tires, etc.
