Jake brake use.

Can a Jake brake be used with automatic trans? I pull a heavy load with 99 Dodge 2500 4X4 and would like to be protected and not damage the transmission either.

Technically, it's an "engine" or "exhaust" brake.

The Jake Brake has mechanical components installed on the valve train, and is not available for our model Cummins.



The auto transmissions 'unlock' while decelerating, and need modifications for the engine brake to work effectively.
