Just wanted to pass on some info. My 06 With an Jacobs Brake. The other day the brake would not work after ceheking it out I found I had no vaccum. So I called a Mopar dealer for a pump and they gave me a $650 answer then I located a Dodge seller on ebay they said $300 still wasn't satisfied so I called Cummins Central they had one For $90. 33 wow what a difference so if your pump goes out call your local Cummins dealer. Wanted to pass on the savings.
 
We've started to carry an electric vacuum pump for customers who need it... .

I think the price is around $120..... the key here is you keep your old belt and pulley set up.....

I don't understand DC mark up... ...

has PacBrake or anyone else you know of considered developing a conversion unit to replace the Mopar/Jake vacuum actuator with a compressed air one. Since many, me included, would prefer having on-board air available, it would seem to be worth investigating.

On the 06, you only have to keep your old belt. No pulleys were changed.



As far as DC mark up, have you seen the "over $300" clutch switch for the manual trans high idle feather? You can buy it at Cummins including ECM wire connector for $45. 00!



With the electric pump, how long does it take to build enough vacuum to turn on the brake?

Jacobs has an air operated exhaust brake for those who have an onboard air supply. For info, click on the link. :cool:

Thanks for the info dieselfite! :) Got jake on my 04. 5 adn was wondering what a replacement vac pump would run. Just me worrying :D
 
This is how warranty works with jake brake and DC

If you purchase the brake and have it installed when you take delivery of your new truck it is as follows

3year/36,000miles



If you purchase the brake after the fact is it

1year/12,000miles



Unless you have a dealer that will work around that and put it on a truck that ha warranty cause I'm sure that happens.

I would think an electric vaccume pump would save a bit of fuel too. Maybe not enough to see at the pump, but every little bit helps. I assume once the vaccume level is reached, the elec. pump shuts off.

According to the warranty info that I got with mine which the dealer installed after I had 1300 miles on the truck, the e-brake assembly is covered for 3 yrs/100K and the remaning components are covered 3 yrs/36K. The clock starts as of the date of the installation or the date of the retail purchase.

I also had mine registered to the vehicle so shows up on the build sheet by VIN.
 
This warranty stuff is just too much. Help me here.....

No where in the warranty book does it state anything about who does the install. I just read in the limitations that the warranty does not cover incorrect installation.



This Warranty covers any failures of the Product, under

normal use and service, which result from a defect in

material or factory workmanship (Warrantable Failure).

Coverage begins with the sale of the Product and continues

for Three years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first,

from the date of delivery to the first retail purchaser or the

date of first installation, whichever occurs first, on

the Jacobs Exhaust Brake assembly, and for three years or

36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the date of

delivery to the first retail purchaser or the date of first

installation, whichever occurs first, on all components

necessary for installation of the Product, including, but not

limited to: solenoid valve(s); wiring harness(es); switch(es);

gasket(s); header pipe; and pneumatic components.



Before the expiration of this Warranty, Owner must notify a

Mopar or Cummins authorized dealer of any Warrantable

Failure and make the Product available for repair by such

facility. Locations in the United States and Canada are listed

in the Cummins U. S. and Canada Sales and Service

Directory; other locations are listed in the Cummins

International Sales and Service Directory.



Limitations

Neither Mopar nor Cummins are responsible for failures or

damage resulting from what Mopar or Cummins determine

to be abuse, neglect, unauthorized modification, or incorrect

installation.
