Jake brake vacuum line

Seems like everything is making noises when it shouldn't or not when it should!

Anyway, my Jake is not working as it did. Checked it out and the ends of the hoses were cracked where they connect. I trimmed them but it's probably time for new lines. Will any hose of the correct diameter work or does it have to be a special type? I've checked around the internet and can't find anything specifically for the Jake.

i bought 4 different size air hoses from harbor freight, i got the ones with the synthetic liner on the inside, ben using them for years on fuel, oil air, and vacuum, you will save a fortune

Thanks. I just didn't know if there was something special so they don't get sucked shut. I suppose there's not enough oomph from the pump to do that.

Cheap hose will collapse. I have used Efi Jose. It is rated for hi temp and lives well under the hood but it is not cheap

Sometimes instead of using jose, you can use hose b. You might be better off to use power brake hose, 13/32 or 15/32, for it as its much heavier wall and made for manifold vacume. Sometimes pressure rated hose can collapse even if it looks like it might be stiff enough when you put a vacuum to it instead of pressure. Better off not to mix up hose ratings and types unless you are in a pinch. This matters for what types of fluids run through a hose too. Check out a manufactures specifications for usage sometimes. A lot of places will sell you a hose just because of the size and whats on the shelf.
