Testing The Afterburners At The Strip Sunday

We had a Jamboree in 1997 and 1999 and are planning our third event for early August of 2001. I would like any input as to events, activities, products, whatever, you would like to see at this next Jamboree.
You can e-mail me directly at ricks@usautosales.com
We would like to make this a fun event for all and it will this time be in conjunction with the Jeep Jamboree that is held locally every year.

Rick, one of the first questions will be "What is available for the RV types in the way of overnight" You might consider getting a block of space set aside for the Trailer & 5th Wheel folks. I would like to attend, it would be the first time my Truck came home since I picked it up in 1996. Good luck with the planning. Dave

Since we hold the event at the local ski hill we have plenty of parking. The lot probabley has space for 30 RV's/campers and Good Sam just had a rally at the school next door to the Gondola house with at least 50/60 parked in the football field and surrounding area. There aren't any hookups there but there is a dump station about 2 blocks away.
The closest KOA is 4 miles from the site.

I was very disapointed with the one last year. It was very informal and I didn't get to learn about anything I couldn't ask a question for. There is lots to learn about on these trucks for me. The more I learn the more quesitions I have. I was really hoping to have some formal meeting with speakers from different technologies. (ie. cummins, bosch, NV, DANA, ect... . The guys that really built our trucks) I was also hoping to meet some members, but being so informal, people were coming and going all the time. I really felt like it was a waste of my time and money to drive all that way up there. Don't get me wrong. The area was fantastic, I loved the mountains and the concerts!! I just felt a little cheated out of the information that I was hoping to get. The original plans stated the were going to be seminars and then there were none. So what gives and what is this years going to be like?????

I have to agree with you about the quality of last years event. Some of the people we had planned on either didn't show or weren't prepared for seminars. I have to take most of the blame and thats why I'm starting early this time (I'm just one guy trying to do all this planning with no help). OK! This time I've cut the show time in half from 4 days to 2 days and have already contacted Dodge, the TDR, Cummins and a few others to start preparing thier speeches. I'm going to curtain off part of the tent specifically for the seminars. I would love to hear suggestions as to topics and possibly speakers.
We have settled on Friday, August 10th, and Saturday August 11th for the event. We will begin setting up on that Wednesday. If you wish to come early we have parking available behind the main lot at Silver Mountain Ski Resort. I will provide more details as I get them.

Dave, I never went to the previous Jamborees, will there be a Show 'n Shine competition?
I bought my '97 from you guys. Does Beckie Jenicek still work there?
Andy

I was there last year,I had my purple '99 in the show-n-shine. Evan Beck and I convoyed over. While I did have alot fun,it was a little crazy. With all the people driving around,it was hard to hear any anouncements of things going on. I thought most of the bases were covered as far as vendors were concerned. The only thing that might make things more convenient is if the barbeque is at the show site instead of across town at the dealership.

AlaskDave,
There was a whole big lot for RV's to park right behind the show site, and boy were there alot of trailers there. (I was in the bright yellow tent,if anyone saw it)

Andy,
Yes there was a show-n-shine. I'll give you one guess who won it last year(his initials are D. P. )

-Mike

Rick, give my regards to Beckie if you talk to her. She'll remember me as "the guy who FedEx'd himself there to pick up his truck. "
Andy

Rick thanks for the info on the over night parking. We will be there. Now how about some info on your up dates over the next year on outside entertainment, like mountain activies. It would be nice to see a concert and do a little mountain bikeing while we are there.

Andy--I saw Beckie and she says she remembers and high back at ya!
Richie 2--Silver Mountain Ski Resort has mountain bike trails all around the top of the mountain. The gondola (worlds longest and free to Jamboree participants)is set up to take you and your bike up and either bring you down or you can ride the trails down. Also the Trail of the Hiawatha bike trail in Wallace, which is just up the road, is 26 miles of downhill through old railroad tunnels. Definitely a must for the non-extreme biker.

We have put JAMBOREE III on temporary hold. These events are very expensive and all of my attempts at getting help from Dodge have gone unanswered. The last two JAMBOREE'S COLLECTIVELY cost close to $150,000. That is just to much to ask one dealership to spend without any help. However we are going to revamp our approach and in August of 2002 we are going to attempt a "dueling diesel" JAMBOREE. The new 6. 6 Duramax vs. the Cummins.
That should generate interest and funds to help produce from both GM and Chrysler. Also by then we should be able to get more than two a month of the new Duramax.
