Hi all, I have just purchased the Janetty low psi pusher fuel pump. I am wondering if anyone has installed one of these on a SHORTBED. . Specifically I am wondering how you cut the fuel lines and where you mounted the pump as there is a 5 inch diameter frame cutout in front of the tank and between the crossover brace.

Thanks, Bill

remote pump

Billua... I installed the carter pump on my 2001 short bed. You need to cut the fuel ine with a tube cutter, the small one you can purchase at any hardware store. Its really tight, you need to cut the fuel line approx. 2-1/2-3 inches just pass the tank. You will later need to bend the end of the fuel line away from the frame so that it better lines up with the pump. Mounting the pump will require drilling some holes in the frame and the bracket of the pump will have to go over slightly the 5" cut hole in the frame. I cut the other end of the fuel line pass the crossmember so I could get at it , and used 3/8" rubber fuel line hose to connect back to pump. Before you cut fuel line next to tank, mount your pump bracket to make sure you have enough room to connect fuel line from tank side to pump... . It's a "*****" and the hardess part of the install. Be preparded to get soaked with Diesel in the process. Good luck!

Gentlemen, thank you very much for the info, you have been extremely helpful. I will go in search of a smaller tubing cutter today :)

Eric, that is a pretty trick setup, nice job!!

i just did mine about a month ago and i cut the line evewn with the end of the tank and ran flexible line over the top of the bracket and made a "drip loop" around the bottom of the pump and usaed a 90 degree brass elbow facing down on the pump. this has worked real good for me. just make sure that the hose is secured so that it doesn't rub on anything and get a hole in it. the bracket will fit between the tank an the cut out in the frame. i would also recommend using the self tapping screws, but put nuts on the back of them as well. just added security.

just my ideas:)
