4bt Pump Question

2wd nv4500 differances???

I have a 92 Jeep Cherokee body fully stripped. I want to put a 12v Cummins in it. Does anyone know anyone who has done this? I know a seperate frame would have to be built with 3/4 ton suspension under it. Do they make motor mount kits that would space the mounts where they need to be? Or have specs as to where to place them? I have got the other things figured out. I just need some guidance as to how to mount it and make it work. Thanks for your help.

maybe I don't understand it but why but that big of an engine in that small of a unibody vehicle? You're also going to have to change axles. If you are trying to build an offroad truck it would probably work a lot better to use a 4 bt. Save you about 400 lbs. Still have to put a real frame on it and you'll probably have to run a decent sized lift to get everything to clear but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

As for mounting the engine. It's really going to depend on where you want it. There are several aftermarket places to get engine mounts but in your case it might be easier to use the stock mounts as they might fit the frame rails.

I would seriously consider buying whatever vintage dodge truck with the cummins in it and swap the entire rolling chassis under the cherokee and shorten the frame to match the wheelbase.

btanner,

The '92's still had a separate ladder frame, not unibody. I do agree that a 4bt would be a much better choice in this vehicle. There wouldn't be much to do to the frame and running gear to make it work and you wouldn't need to change any axles but mayabe the gearing.
