Jeep drill rig?!?!?

I saw this Wrangler parked on a loading ramp in a local truck yard. No idea what they're doing with it but thought I'd share it.

Don't recognize a missile launcher destined for Central/South America? The augers in front are really ground anchors to improve accuracy.

I have a friend who started as an engineer with AMC/Jeep and came along with Chrysler's '87 purchase, and is now retired. He has told me of some outlandish applications/conversions, especially for the export market.

Looks to me like part of a horizontal boring outfit.

My buddy said he remembers Jeep selling very similar rigs to SRP, an AZ power company, as far back as the mid-70s.
