Competition DHRA drags, Woodburn Or., Aug.2!!

Test-N-Tune was tonight for the Clash race here in Houston. I didn't get to make it because of a last minute tune-up on the race truck, but here is something.

Get this boys Jeff Prince ran a 12. 00 @ "119" mph Just wait till he gets the clutch worked out. Keep in mind his 60 ft. time was in the 2. 3 range. Can you say 11. 40"s with no drugs and he has a stick

let me show you the part that grabs me,

with no drugs and he has a stick

:--)

My good friend was there..... saw it all and immediently called to tell me. Did not want to jump in to soon, but since Andrew brought it up... ... ... ... . :D , the 119 mph was when he RESTARTED the truck after stalling it on the line  :D  . No time on that run was relayed to me.

Next run was the 12. 0 at ?????. ALL with a stick and twins, and as Andrew said... ..... NO DRUGS. I have not seen the truck run yet but will be on-hand tomorrow.

The Weather is going to be EXCELLENT tomorrow night (6/28/2003). We had a cool front move thru Friday. Temps will still be high, 90-93, but the humidity will be LOW (70-75%) for this time of year. It is normally 95++++++ %.

Good Luck to all Diesel Racers!!!!!!!

I got to see the truck run a few times to saw, and impressive does NOT BEGAIN to discribe it. The way the truck lowers, and goes down the track is just beyond words. Cool stuff no doubt!

If you have ever watched a Pro-Street car run, with the way it lowers, as it goes down the track, that is simular to how this truck runs.

Jeff is a really nice guy. As Andrew said, his truck really hooks (single cab, dually). He runs about a 30 or 31 inch single slick on each side.

I'm not sure WHOSE clutch he was using, but he had to have it air freighted in for this race. After about a half dozen passes he felt it going away. He did not run eliminations, but the crowd went nuts on his last qualifying run when he ran down a low 12 sec. mustang  :D . Imagine what the guy in the mustang felt like :( .

He was consistant both days, running 12. 1 to 12. 0 all at 119. xx. He is running dual turbo's and injectors, don't know if they are something he came up with or another vendors. I don't want to take credit away from someone who deserves it or give any to someone who had no hand in deciding parts so I will leave it at that.

His friend Joe Hellman (CC12V) ran a personal best of 12. 61 on a 12. 70 dial. Truck aslo hooks very nicely and goes straight. Joe runs a 28 x 14. 5 slick. His truck is a quad cab, short bed, 3/4 ton.

All in all a very enjoyable day. I did not stay for the finals (approaching 1:00 am) so not sure who won the diesel class.

Curious to see what his RPM's are at the traps as I have 32 tall tires and go through at 3200@110+, I suppose I could run those tires also as my truck pulls hard to around 3800.

He told David that it was a stock engine.

So, his clutch lasted 6 x (0. 25 miles) = 1. 5 miles. Must be a world record :D I think I'll continue using my 2. 5 year old reworked Sachs. Drag racing sure is hard on parts.

1. 5 miles is further then the 200 feet that Sled Poke made it with that Sachs. :p

Just pulling your chain Joe. ;) :)

Yup, racing sure is hard on parts, takes power to kill parts. ;)

See above apologie. :)

Andrew

Jim: I have some 36" slicks that you could borrow

The truck will still look cool or it will be on stock tires... . thanks though.

Drag racing sure is hard on parts.

Couldn't agree more!

Jim

...just checked out the videos - they're pretty cool.

It's consistant... .

It's fast... .

It's a dually... . !

It has a sweet fat end MPH... .

How are his short times?

Are those street tires in the back?

NOS? (I think I remember him being drug free... not sure... )

Matt

The 60' times were in the 2. 35 - 2. 45 range.

1/8 mile e. t of 8. 00

1/8 mile mph of 97 mph.

Big single slicks in the rear. Not street tires.

One of my friends with a bone stock '02 5 speed actually raced him in one of the time trials. It was her first time at the racetrack and I was discussing her time slip with her when I noticed she had raced against Jeff.

It was pretty funny seeing a 21 second, 65 mph truck against a 12. 0 @ 119 mph truck. Talk about lining up against the wrong guy your first time at the strip. :) :)

-Chris

Not knocking his timeslips, but those short times are kinda bad... .

Is he blowing the slicks away or not leaving with much boost... . what gives?

He's gaining some pretty sick mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4... .

Is this a 4. 10 truck?

Get this guy on the TDR so we can grill him with questions... . sounds like he has a VERY solid engine combo... and with better traction will have some insane timeslips.

Matt

Matt,

he has a standard, leaving in 3rd and building NO BOOST!. He has been in touch with Suncoast though. ;)

You will not find him on the TDR, he has a job, that is enough work for him.

As for his motor combo, it's got some Mitchell parts, and would not pop his hood.

He has a fast truck, and it really flies.
