For those of you who have had the Jet Coating applied to your manifolds and/or turbo exhaust housings, have you coated the inside of the turbo exhaust housing, or just the outside. I know most guys have coated both the inside and outside of their exhaust manifolds.

They do both the inside and outside. I don't think you have a choice. It looks good when you install it. See the pictures link below. I had them do the ATS exhaust manifold and the exhaust housing on the HX35 housing.

RADdodge, it was your truck which gave me the idea to try this. Thanks for the reply and I'll let you know how my setup turns out.

Are you happy with the PDR35-14 setup?? What are your driving impressions with regards to EGTs while loaded with your camper?

Marc

RAD how long and how many miles do you have on your coating.

Is it JET HOT or another type?

I use to be a dealer for JET HOT (notice the past tense). Fairly quickly the coatings we had done on new headers for street cars started pealing off like cheep paint. The exhaust temp for street cars should be muck lower than for our trucks.

When we contacted JET HOT they said the warrantee was only that the headers would not rust through not that it would not flake or peel.

We where very unhappy.

I was debating getting a Jet Hot (or similiar) coating done to my exhaust housing as well as a manifold. I thought it was just the outside? Is it more advantagous to do both the inside as well as the outside?

I was looking into another coating company called Airborne Coatings only because they are local.

Anyone ever heard of them?

I had thought there was a company called "HPC" or High Performance coatings. I have never seen Jet Hot peel, it always looked nice for a long time, or at least all the headers i have seen done in street gassers.

I think the PDR HX35 is excellent. Reading the posts would indicate that it's a little undersized for what I have in the Cummins. But the performance is great. There are always trade offs, but for towing and street use, the modified HX35 would be hard to surpass for me. Since I use a Pacbrake, I would have to go with a different solution to use a 4" down pipe anyway.

I have about 5,567 miles on it so far, installed last summer. It's JetHot. I'll soon find out about the warranty. I'm starting to see some rust pop out on the manifold and turbo exhaust housing. Not bad yet, but it's starting. I thought I'd get a few years out of it at least. Still looks good though!

I think Piers can help you. I have a black satin (2000 degree) ceramic coated ATS I bought from Piers. I made the arrangements for the coating, but Piers has sent them to the same shop for coating before sending on to the customer. www.performancecoatings.com applied inside and out, and the bolts, as well. The "black satin" actually has more of a charcoal look, but I'm very happy. Turbo cool down is a little slower.

hope this helps.
