I changed all the fluids in my truck but I can't find where you add/check oil for the 5-speed transmission. I changed the differental fluid and I noticed that the bottom of the transmission has a square bolt to drain the transmission, they say you have to overfill the jet rag by one quart unless there is a place to check the level of the transmission fluid. How can you tell how much is in there or how much it can hold?

Factory fill is 3. 5qt. Overfill by 1 or 1 1/2 quarts. Overfill through top PTO cover bolt or remove shifter lever and fill through top of trans.

Only way to check level is to remove fill plug, then stick your finger in there.

If you want to overfill a qrt, take the top bolt out of the PTO cover and add 5-qrts Mobile-1 5W-30. I used some small tube rubber hose duct taped to a trans filler funnel.

Good Luck, Wiredawg

The PTO cover is the plate close to the bellhousing with 6 bolts securing it. You have PTO covers on both sides of the trans. The factory fill hole is on passenger side of trans, next to the identification Mopar/Getrag tag. I don't know how to draw arrows in pics, or I'd point them out.
