Bad news for the Nation: Babs is not leaving.

Bill, didn't see your bid there, what are you waiting for? #ad
$200k. Notice the guitar, including strings, is upside down, Jimi was left handed, learned on right hand guitars and just kept on playing that way.

Hemi,

I see that not only do we share the same taste in trucks and vintage cars, but also in music. Cool pic.

I did not know that illflem. Interesting #ad

Jimi probably was the best guitarist that ever lived. Not many guys will agrue. Too bad I was too young to remember him when he was alive.

While we are on the Hendrix topic, how many albums did he come out with before he died? I have the electric lady land album, and another one thats like a best of type deal. I would like to add to my Hendrix collection (albums... I couldnt afford an inch of his guitar string) and need some info on some good albums... stuff with good music on it that you dont hear ont he radio because the songs are too long etc. I am tired of all the airplay Hendrix.

Axis:Bold as Love ... some wacky stuff on that one... the intro/psuedo interview about UFOs is entertaining as well.

3 GREAT tunes I love, I think are off his last? album. Joe soot would know for sure.

1. ) Freedom
2. ) Dolly Dagger
3. ) Ezy Ryder

They have a real modern sound compared to Jimi's eariler work.

GREAT! Like I said, I am so tired of the radio type stuff that I cant stand to listen to it, but whenever I hear some off the wall stuff that is new to me I say "who is that!" and get "HENDRIX" as my reply. Sounds like I will be off to the CD store later this week now that I have some good titles.

Chad,my favorite album/CDs of Jimi's are Band of Gypsies and Electric Ladyland. Think he only made 5 or 6 albums, but there have been many compilations of live and unpublished studio stuff since he died, Live from the Isle of Wight is a good one.
I had the pleasure of seeing Jimi live at Winterland in SF in '68, incredible!!!

According to a Hendrix book I have, he only made 5 albums while he was alive. The Jimi Hendrix Experience('67); Axis: Bold As Love('68); Electric Ladyland('68); Smash Hits('69); Otis Redding/Jimi Hendrix Experience at Monterey('70). I think Band of Gypsies - recorded live 12/31/69 - came out after his death to settle a lawsuit('70). Everything else came out after his death.

Other fun facts: He played guitar for the Isley Brothers in the early '60s - before he was "the man". He was a paratrooper in the army before his music career. A couple of my favorites are his live version of Johnny B. Goode and his live version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. He played that one live with Paul McCartney in the audience just a couple of days after the Beatles released the album. The Beatles hadn't even played it live yet! Blew McCartney's mind. #ad

Dave, your list missed The Cry of Love(Dolly Dagger), he also made a very hard to find soundtrack to a movie he made called Rainbow Bridge.

You saw Henrix... WOW!!! You lucky guy. I was born in the wrong generation. WOW! That is awesome!

It would have been great to see great bands like that. I think it would have been real cool to have seen Elvis live in Vegas in the early 70's. That guy could sing and put on a show! I would have also liked to have seen the Doors play. You guys had some great music to listen to.

Chad saw the Doors also, they sucked, Morrison was too drunk. One of my favorite concerts was Led Zeppin with Jethro Tull. Ian Anderson played flute with Zeppin for part of the show,it was great. The Who always put on a excellent show also. One thing that amazes me is that back then this type of music was at the fringe, I think it's more popular now than it was back then.

You know whats funny?
The kids today think Aerosmith is a new group!

I see the moron crooks out there RApping away, and then I think of Hendrix.

He just blows them all away.

I like the Doors, too bad Morrison couldn't have been just a hair more under control!!LOL

I saw Joe Walsh in the early 90's, man that Dude is BURNT!! We had to sing the songs for him!

Best Concert I ever saw?
Guns & Roses/Metallica at Three Rivers Stadium.
Unbelievable.
Gene

Bill,

I thought Cry of Love was released after he died, but I really don't know. That's an excellent album. Another of my favorite albums is Crash Landing - released in '75. Peace in Mississippi is one powerful tune.

and of course, "... guess if my baby don' luv me no mo', AHHH know huh'r (pause) sistah will!"
