I would think someone using a slim jim to pop the door lock would be more common, that device does nothing to protect against that.
As for the tailgate you can buy a decent lock for about $25 that also will help protect your cargo if you have a cover, this is the one I installed on my truck,

I'm sorry to say that those locks are easily defeated or bypassed.
Don't forget guys, the interior of our trucks is surrounded by glass. This stuff is easily broken, even using very quiet and safe methods. Also, breaking the glass and removing contents from the vehicle will not set off the stock alarm - provided the doors are not opened. Also, if you have a rear slider, they are easy to get into as well. Got a sunroof? break that, and you're in (if you're a thief) this doesn't leave any exterior tell-tale signs, so the guy can spend his time removing items.
Another method I've seen for both doors and trunks is using a cordless drill with a unibit to drill a hole. Then with a pair of tin snips or metal sheers, they'll cut a hole large enough to reach in and manipulate the door or trunk linkage. You may think that would take a long time, but it doesn't - 30 seconds for slow guys, I'd bet.
No, I have done any of these, but I used to specialize in automotive security systems, and so after this would happen to someone, they came to me for security systems (I don't do that anymore, though).
Unfortunately, guys in my shop would occasionally not follow the rules we had and would sometimes lock the customer's keys in the car while testing the newly installed security system. Since we were usually on tight deadlines, and didn't want to damage the car, if we couldn't slim jim the door, we would electrically manipulate the doorlocks by accessing the doorjamb wires through the fenderwell. Since we knew all the wire color codes, this was also a quick job. Yeah, if we would have turned to the dark side, we would have had quite an arsenal of information on how to get and get into vehicles.
So I guess what I'm saying, is if they want it, they'll take it. Sure there may be other vehicles around to pluck, but probably not as nice as yours. If they really want yours, they'll take it from you at gun point. Keep good insurance, and be safe.
