My daughter wants my truck.

Just kind of currious as to how you rank your priorites in your job? I know the ultimate would be to have big bucks and happiness but that is not always the case, in other words money does not always bring happiness. so I guess ultimatly my question would be this, would you rather make big bucks and not enjoy your job or would you rather settle for less and be happy?

I'd rather be broke than work a job that I didn't like. If I had to drag myself out of bed every morning life just wouldn't be any fun. My motto has always been if you don't enjoy the work you do enough to do it for free you are wasting your time.

Amen to that Bill-I've had at least one where by the end it was a struggle to get up and go-and once I got to work all I could think about was how quick I could get home. Quit that one without another to go to and not really caring-2-1/2 months off work and the job I have now came up. So far so good-if I've been misbehaving I don't want to get up too badly :D but I still love my job-pay is good and you are actually rewarded for using your brains instead of penalized like the last one.

Hang in there Ken-something good's gonna come your way..... just a matter of time.

Jason

I guess could say I have both situations. I spend five hours, sometimes more working around my horses and property then go put 8 hours in on my "high tech" job. Guess which one pays the bills and which one provides the "thrills"?

I would sooner work an "honest" job with people who genuinely care about you than the cold, cruel corporate world. Today's society does tend to require more money but no matter the status, you need to live within your means.

I know people who have the trophy house, etc, etc, and perhaps I am missing something but I don't see them as being happy. Although, I could use a "trophy" barn right now.

Hang in there Ken. I finally got another contract. Been off work since June 30 last year. The client company and their accountants have decided that they are making money again so they need someone to do the work. For a while anyway. Good job and good people so I'm glad to get back in that place.

Lest we kid ourselves money makes up for a lot of wants in a job. Ethically and morally OK are different things. Good money can make a bad job great in some other parts of your life.

I enjoy best of both. I am very happy at my current job, I love it. Sure I have days where I don't feel like working, but I still wouldn't wanna give it up. And the pay is pretty fair, and keeps going up.

If it wasn't work they would call it something else :D I'm not good at it so I'm not going to do it anymore. Told my wife if she wants anymore money she can go and get a job. Plus if I got a job that would be taking a job away from someone else, that wants that kinda pain in their life. I guess you can tell I'm agains't working :) But the good part is that I am also lazy.

I can tell you that I own my own business. I started out loving what I do then it got busy and the money started to roll in and in and in and then worked more hours for more money. It got to the point wher I could by any hot-rod part I wanted-heck I only owe $5800 left on my 01. 5 truck,I have all kinds of truck parts laying on the work bench BUT! I can't buy time! I dont hardly get to see my kids, so I can tell you that it seems that money can buy happiness as long as you dont plan on using that happiness. Find something you love or like to do that will pay the bills AND! give you time for yourself and your family. There is always a way to make extra cash for Bombing:D

P. S: I have down sized my buisness and in just one month I now love what I do again and have seen my kids more than I saw them in the last 6 months- life is good again:D Oo. Oo.

I'm a teacher and Love my Job, there is nothing like see a light bulb come on in someone. Being a teacher and making lots of money don't exsist. I could make alot more money turning wrenches, but money isn't what my world is all about. I have had my own business and as Floor it said I was way taxing on my time.

The botton line is I don't have no problem getting up to go to my job in the AM!!!!Oo. :D  Oo.

Dont really like the job. Pay is good though.

Most people at my job have marrige troubles. Shift work, want you available to be called in at any time, thankless place, etc. etc.

On the brighter side, my 98 has been payed off for 3+ years now :D, and the wifes 99 Mazda 626 for over 2 years. House payment (if you want to call it that)is $300 a month. :D This is a house, not a shack.

I'm happy that I'm able to make enough $$$ that I can get what I want, pretty much whenever I want it. Gee, after typing this, and reading it, it makes me sound rich, but I aint. It's blood money, and I feel like **** most of the time,(several doctors claim they can get me on disability if I chose to) but I hope to save enough so that I can move far away (Maine, Pennsylvania, Idaho etc. etc) and not have to work a job I dont like anymore. Maybe buy a small gun shop.

Guess you can say I'm doing it for the end product. :D

After reading other posts, I should just be happy to be working.

Eric

PS If I decided today I didnt want to work here anymore, my wife would support me 110%.

I've been out of work before, and we were fine. Didnt have money squishing out of our ears, but we made it thank God.

Work for it

Well, happiness is in your own mind... If you can convince yourself your happy, you are! I have a job that works me around 120 hours every two weeks and most of it is on the run, nights, days, and some really long 18+ hour days. I am happy, and if I wasn't ? Life is too short to sit around and be miserable. I am quitting this job in three years after I get my twenty in. Then I will start my third career. I have all kinds of ideas of what to do and have the tools and health to do it. What else can I hope for?

I think I am happy, therefore I am.....

I think this country has so many opportunities that anyone can make as much money as they want. All it takes is risk, hard work, devotion and persistence. More important than how to make money is how to spend it. Or rather how to spend it correctly. Remember, for every dollar you spend you had to make three. Two for taxes and one for you. If you are running a business it jumps to 12to1 because of overhead. For every dollar you take home you have to make 12+. If a person can't control their spending, they will never have enough money. Some else will have it. :(

Making money AND having a life? That's the trick.

Like Champaign Flight says "Life is too short to sit around and be miserable. "

Just my opinion. :)
