A Full Size Diesel-Powered SUV from DC???

Mercedes altenator for kragens

A buddy of mine has a John deere 6030 and asked me if i knew the difference between the P Pump some came with and the A pump some people put on them. I dont realy have a clue other then the P and A are the first letter in the part number. Any help would be great thanks.

Not quite sure, green isn't my color, but I looked on tractordata.com and it lists a turbo charged 531 c. i. diesel and a naturally aspirated 531 c. i. as an option. Why they did is beyond me. There may be a difference in the pumps and the ones used on the turbo version was better or maybe some were junk. Hope that helps.

that was kinda a forethought too. I forgot to metion my buddys running a 619 out of a combine. Hes making it of for pulling.

The A pump is smaller than a P pump and I have no idea why someone would put one on in place of a P as the P flows more fuel and has more robust parts in it.

Thanks for the info. I guess the story goes a couple years ago some guy around her kept cleaning house big time with a 6030 (probably the bigger 619 and a lot of fuel mods). Well other competitors started complianing and wanted the guy to put an A pump on instead of His P pump. Which doesnt make sense cause thats what the tractor cam with. This is in the stock class.

thanks alot of the info I will pass it on for sure.

I used to wrench on the Deere's. This is the nut shell version... ... ... ... I have seen some of these unit's with the Denso pumps.

When it comes to pulling the 6030 are popular here in the Mid West only because they are cheep. There isn't much of a market for a farm tractor of that size (VERY heavy/BIG) with such little HP (by todays standards that is)

The OEM engine seems to be used most often and is pushing way past 1,000n hp (no way to dyno that kind of power w/a PTO dyno)

A billet steel cyl head is used which will flow the air. A Bosch P pump can be used but simply will not supply the fuel required. A local machine shop just North of my home builds the billet aluminum pump housing and Sigma plungers are installed. I cannot say the fuel rate which it's capable of. Columbus Diesel Supply will know.

Just as much and more HP can be had from a smaller tractor/smaller engine. This will allow optimized placements of (tractor) frame weights to suite the conditions. The big old 6030 is a monster and has to be cut down to make weight.

I'm assisting in the building of a pulling truck (Peterbuilt) w/CAT 3406 and the pump is a Hybrid CAT/Sigma Scroll model.

also 6030s have a pretty heavy rear end in them that you really dont have to do much to them to make a puller. Some guys would put a turbo on the naturally aspirated engines and bend the rods in them. they do have diff rods.

Some pullers will run a a-pump because that is what class will allow
