I have used Stanadyne for a while now, and decided to check out their website. I noticed on all of the product test data they showed, that the John Deere Summer Treatment almost matched the Stanadyne Performance data number for number (with exception to the pour point reduction).

An injection shop here in Houston sells Stanadyne for roughly $8. 30 a bottle. I can treat about three tanks with one bottle.

John Deere sells their stuff for $4. 35 for a sixteen oz. bottle and 4 oz. treats 32 gal. Basically, four tanks to one bottle.

Anyone have experience with the John Deere additive? Good or bad. I am seriously considering using this stuff during the summer, and using Stanadyne in the winter, for the trips North.

I ran the JD stuff for a couple tanks-I didn't see the power boost that I usually get with Stanadyne..... but it was on crappy winter fuel so that could have been part of it. Sorry man-can't tell you any more than that! :D

Take it from a life-long farmer, if it says John Deere on it you can get exactly the same thing elsewhere for half the price. Don't get me wrong, most of their products are high quality, just overpriced.

A Dodge diesel tech told me when my truck was new to use Stanadyne regularly, and if for some reason I could not get ahold of that to use the John Deere stuff as it was virtually the same thing. I've used Stanadyne from day one ( I get it by the case from that place in Lubbock, TX). When I changed out my injectors for DD1's at 150,000, the OEM's were as clean as the day they went in.

We left early for Muncie and drove on to Fort Wayne, IN and purchased two five gallon cans of Amalgamated Performance additive as mentioned in the last TDR. My wife doesn't pay a lot of attention to my trucks but about ten miles after I put the additive in the tank I turned to her and said, this truck is quiet! She said she was thinking the same thing, amazing difference. I've got a case and one half of Rotella DFA on the shelf with a partial case of Stanadyne and have tried Lucas, Power Service etc but none made a noticable difference. Haven't tried the John Deere additive but at $50 per 5 gallon pail, the Amalgamated is economical as one pints treats over forty gallon and raises cetane 5 or 6 points. Gary at Amalgamated said that most all the other additives only raise centane by one point unless you double dose. Stanadyne was my favorite until I tried Amalgamated.

DEZLPWR,

I'm not sure what the proper name is, I poured it in to smaller containers. I'm thinking that he called it the TDR Performance formula?? and I recall from an TDR thread that Gary put together a blend for us. Gary at Amalgamated said they manufacture additives for bulk wholesalers and fuel retailers but he seemed genuinely interested in our truck/hobbies. They have extensive labratories and test fuel for other companies in house. Tomorrow I'll check the label on the original can and post or PM you the info. The truck that I drove to Muncie is a very noisey 24valve. I had it reflashed by the dealer (bought it used) under warrenty for noise. Larger injectors helped but not as much as this additive, that said the additive didn't make nearly the difference in my 12 valve trucks. They weren't as noisey to begin with. I'll think you will like it. Larry

Roger, Where did u find the article in the tdr. I could not find it nor can I log onto their website. Would u please tell me their web address. Thanks a bunch. cactus jack

I ran the Lubetec Premium conditioner (which is basically the regular stuff and the cetane boost premixed) as well as the Regular conditioner and cetane booster mixed 50/50. Seemed to work OK in my truck-results were comparable to Stanadyne. I ended up going back to Stanadyne though as it's easier for me to get.
