Advice on selling an old Dodge

I hope this is in the right place...

I just bought a new to me 4320. It has an Air research T 04 Turbo on it (one of the first Deeres to be charged!). I noticed the compressor side is just starting to have a contact pattern. Is this a good turbo/ appropriate size for the 404 C. I. I6? I have to replace it I just want to go with what will be best for it and will fit w/o mods. The tractor will be used all around the farm for tillage, hay and every other chore plus some tractor pulling ( the old lady wont let me pull the Dodge :( )

Hopefully the TDR guru's can help this hayseed

TIA

I worked at the local JD dealer for a few years repairing tractors. I Don't remember much about the 20 series, but the newer row croppers (30 & 40 series)- both 404's & 466's you could get an Air research turbo, or a Garrett turbo. it seems like i replaced a lot more air research turbo's than Garrett's. Maybe there were just more air research turbo's used. My recommendation is to call a reputable turbo rebuilder, & look at thier recommendation. We used Schied Diesel for our stuff, but I am sure any good turbo shop can get you the answers you need. P.

try that place out as they are located in Des Moines Iowa and have very reasonable prices. I jockey farm equipment and on several occasions have bought new turbos from them for tractors with great customer service and fair prices.

As for the turbo having some contacts... have you ever seen what happens to our beloved trucks when the turbo seal blows out and throws oil out the exhaust? Wait til happens to you on a tractor with a good head wind and no cab... . you will be soooooo mad you will laugh.

hope this helps, Chris

They make tractors with Cabs? :-laf This is our newest tractor it's a 71 or 72 and the first we've had turbo'ed. Our oldest Deere goes back to a 34 unstyled B and we still use it.

Thanks for the info guys

I only like a I-6 turbo... ... :-laf

I grew up using either a 50, 520 or 530 almost daily. They are about as slow and sorry as a harley. Plop, plop, bang

Aint nutt'n quite like setting behind the wheel of the 820, looking down that l-o-n-g, fat hood. I like the way she bounces in her tires as she sets and idles @ 750 rpm's :)
