I have a new truck and have mounted the Jordan brake control and wired it in. do not get the continuity light to come on. I had a continuity light on my old controller in other P>U> and brakes on trlr worked for it. Before I have to tear into the trlr wiring I had a question on the Ram. It came with a factory wiring plug under the dash but there is an extra wire (blue & wht) marked -veh Brk Sense imput. What is this and am I supposed to use it with Jordan controller. any ideas or help would be appreciated.

No, the Jordan only requires three (3) wires - the brake light wire from the truck is not used. Ramped single output and inertial controllers need to know when the truck brakes are activated - that's the signal they get from the brake light wire to "turn them on". The Jordan, on the other hand, knows when the brakes are activated from movement of the brake pedal sensed through the control cable, so it doesn't care about the truck's brake lights.

If you're not showing continuity with the trailer plugged in, I'd double-check the wiring between the Jordan and the trailer harness pigtail - the colors don't match. You have to wire match by function rather than by color. Secondly, I'd check the 7-pin connector (truck and trailer sides) to ensure that they're clean, dry and that you have solid grounds. I've found my factory 7-pin connector full of water and mud which resulted in high-resistance internal shorts - I had to disassemble it, clean it out and seal it with dielectric grease. You may also have to clean the contact blades and sockets of the connector - check the tension and be sure none are bent.

Thanks for the reply rusty. I understand how the Jordan only uses three wires and doesnt work off the brake lights. What I want to know is if I am connected to the right wire for the brakes. I am hooked to the solid blue wire from the truck. There is a extra wire-blu & wht- and marked (vehicle brake sense imput) by the factory. Is this the one I should have hooked the blue wire from Jordan to or to the solid blu one marked brake. I have been thru the P. U. plug in and the trailer plug in and they are wired correctly. ground is good. Is there a way to check the fJordan brake at the plug without being plugged into the trlr. I get readings on the jordan when I push the brake pedal. Any ideas appreciated.

Dave- if I understand you correctly, you are hooked to the right wire (solid blue). The other is used in four wire brake controllers to sense the brake activity on the truck. You mentioned you are getting readings on the Jordan display when you hit the truck brakes, but you don't have the continuity light. Unless you have a faulty controller, (possible but unlikely) then you are not connected to the brakes on your trailer. It is normal for the the Jordan controller to read some amperage in the display while disconnected from the trailer. Mine reads something like 0. 03 or 0. 04 regularly. If you are reading alot more than that, (without the trailer connected) then you may have a short somehwere. To my understanding, the only way to check and calibrate a 2020 controller is with the trailer attached. And you should get the green continuity light any time the trailer is attached and plugged in. Hope this helps some.

When you say that you read some current with the trailer disconnected, is this when the brake pedel is not being pressed, or only when you have the brake pressed? If it is always reading some current, then the controller cable tension is too tight. The display should be blank with no pressure on the brake pedel.

Sorry Ken, I should have clarified. It is only when the pedal is pressed. One thing I have done though is place a piece of electrical tape on the cable so when and if I take the assembly off, it is much easier to get it back in the right place.

Thanks for the response guys. Everything is working according to the instructions that came with the Jordan except the continuity light. I just wasnt sure that I was hooked to the right wire on the truck but you confirmed that I was. Now I will double check connections at the plug in and go on to the trlr wiring as the instructions say the probable cause is an open circuit on the brake line or corrosion in the plug- or loose 12 v connection. Its darn cold out right now so wont work on it until warms up some.

Thanks for info

Dave :) :) :)
