Dodge towing mirror replacement glass

I picked up a used Jorden from a fellow member. It had been recently serviced by them with a new cable and sleeve. When the brakes are used the saftey spring on the brake peddle mount compresses and then jerks the cable when there is enough tension. I have lubed the cable and there are no tight bends. Anyone else have this problem or have any sugestions?

I had that problem when I originally installed mine. I had it mounted way off to the right side of the ash tray and did not have any sharp bends in it but I was using the full length of the cable/sleeve. It would stick and jerk when I applied the brakes.

I moved it so that the cable is directly in line with my brake pedal and shortened the sleeve as much as possible. I also made a spacer to mount the control unit on that positioned the bottom of the unit out away from the knee bolster so that the radius of the bend in the sleeve was as large as possible.

This solved all my problems and I love the way this controller works. There are some pics of my setup in my Reader's Rigs.

mine also jumps a little bit, but I don't feel it in the camper brakes while towing. I have mine just to the left of the ashtray, and at the bottom of the dash. My cable goes up under the dash, makes a look and the cable fastner is mounted to the metal bracket under the dash.

Yep. I got the same thing, and mine is brand new. I installed mine with the full cable intact and the controller in a location I don't want it because I was in a hurry. I am hoping when I get the chance this weekend to reinstall the controller in the right location and trim the excess control cable that my problem will go away.

Im glad Im not the only one with this problem. I was originaly testing the unit with full length cable I have since placed it close to where I want it just to the left of the ashtray. The problem is still there. The next experiment will be teflon outer cable tube if I have enough in the shop.

Mine is in line with the brake pedal and the sleeve goes through a hole I drilled in the knee bolster. The sleeve is as short and as direct as possible. No dragging or binding at all. I went a step further and hard mounted the bracket to the pedal lever by drilling and tapping the lever. With adjustable pedals there is only a small space where this can be done but ends up rock solid and reliable. The unit is mounted high on the knee bolster and I can see the display of the unit through the steering wheel spokes.

My Jordan is mounted through the face of the ash tray with the full length of control cable and works fine
