Just returned from a week trip to Joshua Tree,Zion and Bryce Canyon. We were especially awed at the beauty of southern Utah and the cordial nature of the people there. Any question we had was gladly answered with a smile. Dodges were everywhere. These trucks were covered with mud, dirt you name it. Most guys running stock tires and towing stuff, hauling and using them as intended. I've never seen more plentiful diesel anywhere. It seemed as if two out of three filling stations carried diesel. Lowest price paid was $2. 17,highest was $2. 35. Once we got off I-15,traffic was minimal and low tempo. Our thanks for the polite treatment we enjoyed and we'll be returning next May to see other parts of the state.

My wife and I just returned from a month long trip through Texas, New Mexico, and
Arizona. We have a Four Wheel Camper which makes traveling a breeze. We were
concerned about peoples attitudes with the economy in the crapper, and the drug
problems along the border, but also found folks very friendly and helpful. Most working pickups in Texas were Dodge diesels by far. In Oklahoma we found diesel 10 cents cheaper than gas. Haven't seen that in a long time. Lowest price was $1. 79 w/ cash. Driving along I-40 it was windier than a horses a. . The homebound snow birds with motor homes and 5ers had one heck of time keeping 'em on the road. Same for the 18 wheelers.

Happy trails

Spent last week in Zion. Rain and snow, but awesome! We climbed up Angel's Landing. What a butt pucker! Hope to do Bryce next year, or maybe Zion again a little later in the year so we can do The Narrows. You're right about lots of Dodges. BTW, if you get stuck in traffic, then have to pull your trailer through a snow storm outside of Austin, NV, you will run out of fuel 1/2 mile outside of Ely, NV.

Good weather.

We just missed the cold weather. Zion was 42*-85*,Bryce was 29*(brrr for a SoCal guy)-70*. I hiked up to the Hidden Valley sign, but had to leave the wife below. I'll do it again next year with a water bladder backpack and more food. Stayed at Ruby's for a spell and enjoyed the hot showers. Bryce was loaded with foreigners and we had a very nice couple from Scotland camping next door. We returned from Bryce via the tunnel off US 89 and the Checkerboard Mesa. You couldn't take a bad picture! The truck ran flawlessly with Smarty doing it's job with some fairly intense headwinds heading south on I-15. All in all a very relaxing trip. :) P. S. Joshua Tree was breathtaking also, but I'd recommend one of the reservation campgrounds as looky loos trying to score a spot in the Jumbo Rock self-register sites were constantly cruising by.
