Don are you running other mods besides the VA? I too have a VA and the addition of the boost elbow brought the boost up to 26psi. Was the 30psi that you saw while towing? I have not been able to get over 26psi. I would think that the check engine light is going to come on. At the very least throw a code for overboost. Say you don't have access to a DRB scan tool do you? Sure would be interesting to see what the ECM is recording right now.

I just posted the following on the 24v forum, I went searching for other 1/4 mi times out there and found this thread. I didn't have time to watch my EGT's as I was VERY busy in the truck (with two feet to run three pedals simultaneously!!) on the 1st three runs (these were my first runs ever down the 1/4 with a manual in a vehicle and I haven't run the 1/4 in 11 years) but on the last run I watched it and I hit a max EGT of 1050 pre-turbo. Not bad eh?

Just got back from Stanton raceway here in Michigan. Ran my truck down the 1/4 four times - my best ET was 17. 372 and best MPH was 79. 41!!!! #ad
(all the times at the bottom of the msg) My race weight was 7250 lbs and I calculate that out to 273 RWHP by ET and 283 RWHP by MPH. Holy cow that was fun (but awfully hard on the all-terrains)!! I figure I lost a full second due to shifts (started in 2nd and I'm guessing at . 25 seconds per shift). The first round of eliminations I ran against a Chevy S-10 ZR2 regular cab (with an auto) and he ran a 17. 060 to my 17. 817 (my dial-in was 17. 8)! If I had an auto I would have been faster than him - I figure his truck weighs half what mine does! I beat him as his dial-in was 17. 25. Unforetunately I had to leave the track for a family get together - it killed me!! Two guys walked past my truck when I was in the staging lanes and laughed. After my run they came back by and said they had to apologize as my run was d. . n impressive!! #ad
I've never run a manual down the 1/4 before and man what a handfull. For my burnouts and staging I used the heel of my right foot on the brake and the toes on the throttle - I felt like I was rubbing my tummy and patting my head. Hardest thing was getting the truck to hook up - during one run a bystander said I was spinning all the way through the 60 ft lights.

Since we are talking about racing I'm thinking about running my 3500 and see what she can do. Should I remove the duels and run singles or would help to leave them on?. My truck is slighty BOMBed TST #8 and straight pipe.

rory . leave em on . i think the more rubber touching the ground the less chance of breaking traction , auto or stick ? either way i would walk it out of the hole then stand on it , haven't driven a stick in one of these so i don't know how that trans is to powere shift ... i wonder if i could put a HEMI 4 speed behind a Cummins ??? #ad

someone pick a saturday in the near future here and we can all make the trek over to the dragway and have our own diesel day. :)

Interesting posts here. Thinking about going to the track here when it cools off. Something about the ambiant air temps being over 115 can't be good for running for time and watching EGT's.

Anyway... ... By then I'll likely have a 4" exhaust. I've been hearing alot about a boost elbow. Were can I get one, and what exactly will it do? Also, is there a way to keep the ECM from recording an overboost?

you can get a boost module , there a 3 on the market presently , they all come with an elbow , with the 99 you will be all set , i see you have a va , will give a nice little addition . those that make them are DD , power edge and practical solutions . i only have experience wit hthe DD and the one incorporated into the PE presently installed on my ram , have not used the practical solutions , but another member raved about it ...
