For the last 10 years or so I've wanted to buy an old jukebox and restore it. My grandparents had built a bar onto their house for all there friends to come over and socialize (the liked to party
). The centerpiece was a little no frills AMI D-80. My mom has a picture of me dancing around it as a toddler and I want to restore one to keep for when I have kids.
Has anybody ever worked on one or know anything about it? I only want that model and want to restore it to original condition. I think the CD conversions are a sin. So far it seems parts are going to be the biggest hurdle. There's two on eBay right now, each would make for a good start but will require a re-wire and some repair. I think it will be fun, just don't want to end up with a big piece of "art" instead of a working jukebox. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
