Once off of SR-99, turn East (left) on Elk Grove Boulevard crossing over SR 99, through town to Elk Grove-Florin Road. Turn right (South) at E. G. -Florin Road and proceed past the High School to the Park’s main entrance. After paying Sacramento County the entrance fee, drive through the park road until you see a gathering of Dodge CTD’s.

From the East: Take US 50 West to the SR-50 & SR 99 Interchange then go south on SR-99 to the Elk Grove Boulevard Off Ramp.

From the West: Take Interstate 80 East to SR 50 (to So. Lake Tahoe) and the SR-50 & SR 99 Interchange then go south on SR-99 to the Elk Grove Boulevard Off Ramp. Once off of SR-99, turn east (left) on Elk Grove Boulevard crossing over SR 99, through town to Elk Grove-Florin Road. Turn right (South) at E. Once off of the Freeway, at the off-ramp intersection with East Stockton Boulevard (a 2 Way Stop Sign) Turn Left (North) onto East Stockton Blvd. Proceed North to the 30 Degree Right Turn (Intersection) with Elk Grove-Florin Road and follow the road to the right 30 degrees. Proceed North on Elk Grove-Florin Road to the Park’s main entrance. (If you pass the High School turn back!) After paying Sacramento County the entrance fee, drive through the park road until you see a gathering of Dodge CTD’s.

The picnic areas have lots of shade, grass, and about one BBQ pit per picnic table, trash cans and there is some running water - drinking fountains & area restrooms. Bring whatever else you want. There is also a large pond w/ a walking trail all around and a children's play area too. There is also a swimming pool (additional use fee) in the park by the main entrance. Most of the Softball fields’ tennis courts etc. are on a separate reservation setup. Vehicle parking is usually close to your chosen picnic area just off the paved park road. FYI, I’m not real sure of the facility’s current condition, as I have heard that the County may not be keeping it up.

Due to this Saturday being so close I don't think we can reserve an area, so I'll try to get there early to stake out a good "first come-first served" spot. Look for a two-tone Timberline Green/Bright Silver Metallic 2003 2500 QuadCab CTD with an ARE Tonneau cover.

See you there! Oo.

John

(or Jim, or whatever) ;)

Thank You, John. I am better with names after I have a face to attach to them. My apologies. Excelent directions and I hope to see many of us there.

Paul

Sweet!

As to the original post on the picnic, I have a few original parts that I would be happy to bring along if any one is interested in buying them:

* Original factory steel spare rim with no tire

* 1 or 2 original air filters

* Original front coil springs (#39 & #46)

* All 4 original control arms

* Original factory 34 gallon fuel tank

John, how much is the entrance fee $$ ?

Thanks,

Tom

John:

Thanks for doing the leg-work for us on this event, it is greatly appreciated.

hopefully the weather cooperates, looks like it is going to be a little warm ( low 100s) but we will bring lots of cold drinks to keep everyone hydrated.

I talked with Diesel Gunner this evening and we hope everyone shows up and has a good time.

BTW if anyone knows any other Ford guys, please pass this info on, because I don't want to be the only guy who shows up with a REAL TRUCK!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D :--) :--)

THE FORD GUY!!!!!!!!!!

Ford support?

Big Jake 1:

I invited a co-worker to join us Saturday who drives a 2002 7. 3L Ford Excursion. Bob keeps it in real nice condition and hopefully will drop by. I told him that you were hoping for some fellow Ford diesel support! (Since Bob's employer is my company's customer ;) I told him that there would be plenty of food and we would feed him. --- I hope that's OK!)

Big Jake 1, FWIW, for the last couple of years I was planning/wanting to order a F250 diesel right up to late Feb. or Early March of this year. After I learned about the 6. 0L, I placed my CTD order on April 11th. Actually, Bob was one of the folks who said to stay away from the local Ford Dealer, based on his recent experience. :-{}

John and all:

looks like I am going to have to bail on this one, something came up and I will be unable to attend.

I spoke to Paul (Diesel Gunner) last night and at that time everything was a go for me, but plans have changed.

Hopefully somebody can come up with a grille and a cooker for you guys.

Sorry to bail out at the last minute, it couldn't be helped.

Have fun guys and see you at the next one.

I have 2 full sized "real" (meaning they don't burn no stinkin' propane) BBQ grills that I can bring. I thought it had been posted above that each "camp" site has a grill already there??

Someone please let me know if I should bring my grills or not, ok?

Thanks,

Tom

Ken, sorry to hear ya can't make this one :( Hope all is well for you.

Tom,

It's up to you, if you think you want to pack one of your "real" BBQ's with you. Since this will be my first TDR event, I'm not sure how many folks will really show up tomorrow.

As a reference for you, the BBQ units that are in the park are about 2 to 2. 5 sq. ft. in cooking surface, mounted on a steel pipe. They are fine for the typical single "family" useage, but would be too small for a big group or for someone cooking outsized items like a large racks of ribs. May I suggest, that you go with what you think is best!

Hope this helps

John

Thanks John. I'll toss at least one of them in the old Ram. As well as a full bag or briquettes.

I'm going to guess, based on my previous local Sacto area TDR get togethers, anywhere from 8 - 15 TDR members to show up, and who knows how many other friends, family members, etc. .

See ya'll at 10 tomorrow morning.

I will throw in a "real" BBQ, also. I will bring at least one xtra ice chest with ice (and from the forecast we will all probably want to get inside of it). I know that it is going to be really hot but I hope that as many as can make the trip. I mean, if we have to, we might just end up sitting around in the shade and enjoying a few adult beverages!

It might be good to bring a folding chair or two and plenty of drinkable water. If HVAC is still going to bring some corn I will bring some aluminum foil, butter, and salt & pepper. IF anyone has a large pot and gas stove we could also boil them ears. I am not set up for gas right now, since my brother asked for his sheepherders stove back (Damn!).

Ten in the AM sounds good, especially if we have to call it early due to the heat. Just look for the sweaty guys (and Gals!) by the diesel trucks and come join us.

Also, if you think of anything else that you would like to share, please feel free to bring it along. Can you believe that I am actually going to wash my rig in this heat tonight? See you all there.

Paul

P. S. Wish you could make it, Jeff & Daisy.

guys there is no emergency and everything is well with me and Mom as well. Just some business that I need to tend to on Saturday.

Hope you guys have a great time and stay in the shade!

We had a great time today

Well, even though we only had I think 7 or 8 trucks show up, we had plenty of wives, girlfriends and kids there. Weather was decent for most of the day, and we had a great spot to setup the BBQs and chow down as we talked of all things diesel.

Thanks to those who put it together, and sorry we missed some of you this time.

Tom

Big Jake,

As the "new guy", we had a nice time (FWIW). It's seams like a very nice group of folks. My wife is not into trucks, however the picnic had a little something for everyone. The kids seemed to enjoy the park ducks & geese that roam around. The heat wasn't too bad as there was a lot of shade and uually a light breeze. We broke-up around 2 to 3 PM and by then it was a little toasty.

I'm not aware of any plans for next time, however there were a couple of different conversations/ groups so others may have have decided on something.

John

Hey, sorry for the late post here. Yes, we enjoyed a very relaxed get together on the 19th. The weather was warm enough that I noticed none of us were interested instanding over hot engines and talking trucks. Rather, we sat around in the shade and barbequed.

It was good to see those who made it. I did not put together that Hector had a laptop plugged into his truck until after we pulled out, even though he had mentioned it during a conversation. . I had noticed that Janet was driving when they arrived and didn't give it another thought. Then, when we were leaving, I saw him get back into the passenger seat? When we got down the road I said to my wife " I wonder why Hector isn't driving? He didn't drink any beers. " That's when she told me that you had the laptop, Hector! Send me a PM, I probably have a ton of questions.

The food was plenty and shared all around. We did not discuss a date for the next get together. Let's get a few suggestions and make a decision now so everyone can plan on coming.

Where would you like to have the next ... ?

Paul

P. S. We were unable to get John to go for a ride in any of the "tuned" trucks. We will have to infect him later. LOL!

Diesel Gunner"s Hot Links were to Die for!! Wild pig made into hot links.

Too bad there was not a better turn out. I counted eight trucks. We can do better. Great family event.
