Jumping out of O/D

I have a 1999 cummins 2500 with a fass pump and edge comp box and 5inc exhaust . It jumps in and out of lock up in 3rd OD off and 4th gear OD on. I was told that it was the tps . i replaced it and fixed it for about a 90 days and its back. I orderd the n-25 noise filter. is this the best thing to do or just another patch? any ideas? thanks.

If it is happening at very light throttle it is most likely caused by electrical noise. There is a flash available that will fix many trucks. From there the fixes take all sorts of shapes:-laf. Clean Battery terminals, replace questionable batteries, run additional ground wire between Pcm and Neg batt terminal. Shield ground behind alternator,Verify APPS,add noise filter from DTT

Diesel Transmission Technology - DTT Performance Diesel Transmission and Power Accessories

And a few more less common fixes.

If you are actually experiencing the torque converter going in and out of lockup the noise filter is the only way to go. I have tried adjusting the APPS voltage, running new wires outside the harness, new grounds outside the harness, new batteries (worked for a while) every fix resulted in a return of the problem sooner or later. Some lasted longer than others but all had the same result in the long run. Then I found this site Dodge Ram Cummins 24V Truck Converter Clutch Cycling Repair. and after installing the filter (cheap) I have now been running trouble free for about six months and no hint of the problem even returning. You might try the noise filter before spending lots of hours and money on other fixes that don't work. I have done this to my truck and my buddies truck and both are operating fine.

Have the codes ran or run them yourself. You might have a sensor out in the transmission. There are two sensors in the transmission. I had a problem like yours and a code referring to the transmission sensors came up, so I replaced both sensor and changed the filter and waa laa, problem solved.

we checked the voltage to the tps with motor off then with it running and just the vibration of the truck running the voltage jumped from . 58 to . 70 it just jumped up and down. Is this the some problem you had? do i need a new tps?

I never checked the voltage with the truck running as this was not the instructions I received. I had low voltage with the engine off so I adjusted it. That worked for me for about a month.

the problem is back. im going to order the noise filter. is your truck still running ok after you installed the filter.
