I had been fighting with a low fuel pressure problem for a couple of weeks. I got the parts necessary to junk all of my banjo fittings. What I found was that the banjo fitting on the inlet side to the fuel filter canister has a tiny passage in it - probably 3/16". The other fittings (tube assembly) that go between the filter canister and the VP44 are much larger - perhaps 1/4" or larger.

So, if you're chasing a low fuel pressure problem, check these banjo fittings or just replace them with something else.

Now, with the airtex pump, I'm seeing pressures of 17 psi idle, 15 psi cruising, and can't pull it down to less than 11 psi at WOT.

I know what you mean. I drilled out both the center and side ports of my banjo bolts on my first LP replacement.

It made my LP's last longer. I'm on my 2nd at 150k.
