Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Jury In on the KDP?

I've checked out a lot of threads about the KDP on the early 24 valve motors and some have said that it's a hit or miss deal on them. Is there any way to tell if they have the new style case without pulling things apart? The truck in question is a 99... TIA

No there isn't. Pulling the case is the only way to know for sure. On my 98. 5 I just used the KDP jig and took care of it just in case. Real easy job.

You can tell without opening the case up, with one of these: optic thingy



But this wont tell you if the case bolts are loose, like they are in alot of cases.
