Hey everyone I have a few questions, if ya'll can help. I have a 98. 5 Quad cab Cummins. First AIR FILTERS, I understand that the BHAF is the best way to go right? Is this just basically and open mount where the old box is replaced with the open mount which holds the filter? Second GAUGES, I have a Pyro, and a turbo boost gauge from my 93 which I am going to put on the 98. 5, I also have a (are you ready for this) a DIRECT CONNECTION fuel pressure gauge (outside mount) which I was thinking of putting on the hood, it goes to 15lbs. Is that enough? and where do I hook it up to the fuel system for best results, still reading about this lift pump situation, so give me some pointers or help me find the info on here I need to read. Third EDGE EZ box, what kind of money should I pay for one of these? and any sugguestions as to where to purchase them, I have seen them on Ebay, but wasn't sure what the price should be? Last, MAX TIRE SIZE, on a 2WD I understand that 285/75 is as tall as I can go, is that correct? I looked at my truck today, it has 245/75s right now and it looks like the 285/75s might rub? Thanks in advance for your help. Richard Hawkins, Redbeardhawk

hey man, welcome to the TDR. You might want to check out the "New Cummins Diesel Owners" threads to learn more about some things you might not know yet.

The BHAF ain't too shabby. I've found the reduction in egt's to be very close the same performance with the K+N RE0880 in the SAS, in my truck.

Your thought of the FP gauge on the hood has been done. I started with an Autometer Ultralite 0-15 FP gauge, which I recently replaced with a Autometer 0-20 boost/vac. gauge. Both work well, I needed to change gauges as I up'd the FP a bit. The FP gauge on the hood is my pre filter gauge, I have a SPA gauge inside the cab for post filter psi's. If you want to use only one gauge for FP, my suggestion is to use the bottom of the fuel filter ( outlet) as your source. If you click on readers rigs and then on Bigsaint, you will see some pics. of my install. There are several methods to use to tap into the FP, I have all Aeroquip elbows, braided line and Weber fittings, along with 2 pressure port fittings. You could also use one of Ray T's modified banjo bolts for a source ( available at Geno's garage).

I can't speak for your truck, but for mine the addition of the Edge EZ box was a real kick in the pants, while otherwise stock.

RBH,

First of all, Welcome!:)

Check the classified section(tab at the top of this page)

There are usually a few "Boxes" for sale by members who have purchased newer boxes or newer trucks.

For new, check with Rod at www.wildcatdiesel.com.

Good prices, excellent service

Could save 'ya a little $$$. ;)

As to fuel pressure, I think in stock trim you should see about 15psi at idle, 10 on the road, and no less than 7-8 WOT.

(Wide Open Throttle)(Foot to the floor):D

I got my edge ez from Con Chaycock. He is just starting out and trying to get some business. His price for a new one was $475. 00. He was the best price that I could find at the time. I bought mine about 4 weeks ago. I love it. His e-mail is -- email address removed --. Now if I can just find a set of 275 rv injectors for about $260. Anybody out there have any used DD 2's or 3's?

Thanks Everyone

:) Thanks everyone, I will start reading some of the old threads tonight. WOW there are so many! Hopefully I can "manufacture" a mount for an Air Filter and I plan to put the gauges on probably next weekend when I go on Longbreak :D (with my shift I get 7 days off in a row once every month):D I think I found a great buy on a Edge EZ and for now I guess the tires will have to wait. I may have to figure a way to get to the nationals, that sounds like fun. I just bought a Honda Valkyrie a few months ago, their big "rally" is the end of July in Zanesville Ohio, which I plan to go to. Then hopefully I can work out something to get to the TDR rally. :D I look forward to getting to know all of you. Take Care and Thanks again

Richard, I put two electrical sending units on top of the fuel filter housing. Wired it thru a two way switch to one gauge. I got everything from Summit Racing for about $60. 00. Monitors pre and post filter, works great.
