I am new to owning a Cummins Diesel (2002 Dodge 6spd). I purchased a used 2002 and am wondering how I can tell If the Fuel has been turned up? Many Thanks

First thing is first. Welcome to the boards. :)

Now to your question. If the previous owner had a box installed that did not tap the pump wire and removed it before he sold, you really can't tell. If he did tap the pump wire there will be evidence of it on the VP44 (injection pump) wire. Also look for evidence of having had something mounted in the cab. Many of the boxes have in cab controls which may have been removed.

one easy way to tell if a box had been on your truck at one time is to look at the clamp on the boost outlet of the turbo to the actuator. If the clamp is not the original type or shows signs of tampering. To check for injectors look for wrench marks on the line nuts. Of course that could also be that it had to be bled at one time or another. Any Dealer can also run a report to see the warranty repairs that have been performed, also when and where.

but as far as "turning it up" you can't. the pumps aren't like the old tractors where you can spin a few nuts and a rod and smoke out the neighbors.

welcome to the new generation computer controlled diesel.
