... Well then, get REALLY nuts, and *I* remember "gas wars" while driving on leave from the Army across the US, and paying 14 *cents* a gallon for gas in about 1956...

Yeah - and they washed the windshield, checked yer oil and tires too!

Yep. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I could count my age on both hands, I remember my parents paying 10 cents a gallon when stations had "gas wars".

In high school, I regularly paid 17. 9 cents for premium.

Don't go there...

Warning... don't do this to yourselves. It is just going to drive you crazy (me to as well) and I don't need it, not gonna' do it. . now way now how. No, No, No!!

(Pass the Prozac :{ :{)

Thats what I have been thinkin... . Local radio show commented that 1 year ago fuel was exactly 1$ less than it is now. Yeah 1. 86 sure does sound like a bargain..... Cheers

i remember a few years back buying fuel for $0. 447 a liter, and now i am lucky to find it under $1. 000 a liter :(:(:( yeah, the good ol fuel days i miss...

[and so does my work place, we go through over 1,000,000 liters a day (average 15,000 liters to top up each locomotive, and average 25 units each shift [sometimes as high as 45 units a shift], 3 shifts... )]

Well I remember filling up my truck in the late '70's in mexico when # 2 was . 11 cents a gallon. The exchange rate was 3,000 plus to to 1 :(

:{ Yeah, I remember fuel being $ 0. 98 a gallon in Feb. '99 when I purchased my CTD even here in the sunshine tax state of California! This stuff we burn is only a notch above the bubblin' crud that Jed Clampett found on his property. What gives?

Back when I was a senior in high school('72-'73) I bought an Austin A40 car for 80 dollars. Gas was . 229 per gallon. I could drive back and forth to school all week on 25 cents worth. In town I got about 42mpg. It use to vapor lock going from San Jose to Santa Cruz in the summer. I kept a couple of oranges and some duct tape in the back to put on the fuel line. That would work for a couple of trips until the orange dried out.

I can remember when gas was 29. 9 a gallon. So some of you guys have senority over me. ;)

We used to pitch in $1 for gas when a buddy was driving around... remember going around and around at McDonalds? Then parking there and getting kicked out because you didn't buy anything? Boy they thought we were really delinquent. Boy how times and attitudes have changed.

LOL
