Guys,

Last night I saw an '85 W350, 4x4, crewcab(4 door) shortbed. It was solid white, had a 360, 4 speed and 4. 10 gears. The truck really caught my eye. I have been looking for a good one for several years. I bought the truck this afternoon. It does not have power windows or locks, but does have airconditioning. It will take sometime, but she will eventually receive a Cummins transplant with a NV 4500 5 speed. I am really excited about this and thought I'd share with yall. I was looking for a 98 12 valve truck because I could not find a 4 door. So now, I have found one and have decided to build the truck I want. I'll post pics on my website, when I get a chance.

Welcome to the club

If Mopar won't build it, then I will. That 's my attitude. Several of us have done this swap. It's not to hard. Mine is a 2wd, lwb, dually. My best advise is get all the parts you can from one truck. It makes things a lot easier.

I saw a nice looking 83 or 84 crew-cab, long bed 2wd dually last week. It was an auto with a 360, less than 100,000 miles and a nice body. If I had the space to do the conversion... :D

Big Don,

congrats on the crewcab. I second the motion for finding a wrecked donor vehicle. Its good for the small parts and pieces that will nickle and dime you to death. The porblem is you end up with a getrag trans and rotary pump. I guess the ideal situation would be a 94 up engine-trans combo and a first gen for everything else. By the way, are you going to the Scheid rally again this year? I met you there last year. I'll be burning the midnight oil to get mine done so I can bring it. Keeping my fingers crossed as it's gonna be a close call. (to many projects not enough time).   Murfman

Hey Don,

Nice talking to you the sunday, any more questions just give me a call again(the "wife" is thinking maybe I not so crazy after all or there is more than one nut running around ;) ). Now maybe you can help with the push for a new forum for conversions:D.

crew cut

I've got the room, but not the time and money. Have to finish and sell a few other projects first. Sure would like to get that nice dually crew 360 and keep it down here until conversion time! A crew conversion is down the line; I can't afford a new Duramax Allison crew like my brother. Of course he oredered his in December and hasn't heard any more about it since then. I could have built mine in less time!
