OK guys I am very new to the 2nd gen trucks, so any help would be great. I just bought a 2001 3500 Quad cab 4X4 with a 5 speed, it has 85K miles. What I am used to is my HEAVLY BOMBED 85/91 Dodge W350 Crew Cab long box. What do I need to look out for on these newer trucks ? I intend to buy first is a fuel pressure gauge and a pilar set EGT and Boost gauges to start with. Next I will get a larger exhaust system and a K&N air filter. So what little items can I add to the truck, injectors , turbo, boxes ?

Just Curious

I am wondering why you got a new truck. I like what you did with that '85. Very nice! And you are selling it? Why? Oh well. I guess we just get the bug and can't stop, eh?:D

Your engine and all components attached are covered for another 15K. That includes your pump.

Cool, I am a little concerned about all the pump failures and lift pump issues I keep reading about. As for the Crew Cab my family has out grown it, so I am going to stretch this 2001 and add a couple of full size doors. Yes that means it will be a Crew Cab Quad Cab:D :D :D :D :--)

How many doors?

So, you mean you are going to have 4 full-sized doors, plus the quads?

Holy cow!:--)

Again, who are you going to have do that?

Add-ons

Man, lots of add-ons for you new ride.

I have the 2500, and wish I had the 3500. But engine-wise, here's what I'd do/have done:

Fueling box--I have the EZ, but would get the Comp if I were doing it again. In fact, I might do it anyway:D

Injectors: I have DD stage II in my ETH. I love them. I think they are very adequate for my needs. I tow, and anything more would just create high egt's without any other mods. However, if you want more screaming HP, get teh DD III's and one of the wild boxes. I guess the Comp can be wild on the higher settings. The great thing about it is it is adjustable. Best of both workds--towing and screaming!!

Exhaust. I have the 4" DD exhaust with Walker muffler. Nice. Souds good, and my egt's went down about 150 degrees under WOT. Hey, if you want to get wild, stacks look cool on the duallies!!:D

Exhaust brake: I have the Jacob's brake form Cummins. It works well enough, though the BD, as others have told me, has more braking power at lower rpms than does mine. But it is also more dinero. I also have the shifter mounted switch.

I have the K&N air filter in the stock box. But, I am planning on something similar to the BHAF, but hopefully a little better. More on that later.

Guages: Mine are the DD Autometer egt and boost on the pillar. They are great, and closely match the dash cluster.

You got me all excited. I almost want to sell mine and get another just to do all this over again. I'm getting a little sick. Fever coming on... I'd better go lie down. I think I'll go sit in my truck!:D :D

Have fun with it.
