I just bought an Edge Comp for my 2000 model, gonna replace my TST Powermax1 with it since it's adjustable. According to the website there are 5 power levels and 5 sub settings? I assume the higher the number on the sub settings the more smoke? What would you advise for daily driving(no towing)?

I run my comp so the power and sub level are corresponding.

Ex.

1x1

2x2

3x3

4x4

5x5

I usually drive mine with it on level two for everyday use and if you want to have some fun you can turn it up.

I pull a load lots of the time--4 mules in trailer--30 ft RV and I run my comp on 1 x 1 and then I have to watch in 6th gear in cruise a slight uphill will slip the clutch (stock)

I picked up about 2 mpg when I added the comp. Love it. made a heck of a difference in performance too.

I agree with AMikesell. Only I put power setting 4 at defuel 2. I have the Hot Box and watching what it did at the dyno I can run 100hp and 185 TQ less then 5x5. It keeps the curve smoother then 3x3 through the RPM range. My . 02 Good luck, I love mine.

What do you mean less than 5x5?

How much extra power did the box give you? Did you dyno on all the different settings.

Does the hot upgrade make a big difference?

Most trucks will dyno highest on 5X4 not 5X5. The difference isn't a bunch 10-20HP but it is a gain non the less.

As for the HOT Comp, max HP will be the same (unless you have a really large turbo that can't get a good air charge going by 2700 rpm. What you will get is a faster time at the track, longer pull if sledpulling, or more smiles when outrunning the Fords.

RConner,

Same as what Jetpilot said, I ran four runs with my Smarty on 8 and the Drag Box on 2-3, 3-3, 5-5, 4-2.

2-3 = 466. 6/954. 4

3-3 = 467. 1/960. 7

5-5 = 484. 2/1005. 1

4-2 = 417. 5/813. 3

I guess the defuel setting of #2 keeps the power down but the curve is almost flat out to 3300. 2-3 and 3-3 dropped fast from 2700. TQ was highest between 2300 – 2600. If I have time and can figure out how I’ll post the Dyno sheet. Did you do the flexplate on your DTT? If you see the factory one, I don’t know how it lasted as long as it did.

No, the guy who built mine said it is not necessary for my model year. He said some of the newer models it is a weak point.

As to all the different levels, I still haven't had a chance to mess with all of them. I know I don't have a big enough turbo for level 5 and 6. On level 6 I took all warnings off and had to let out when I hit close to 1500 degrees. At least the turbo doesn't smell like burning plastic anymore. I quess its seasoned now :D . So far level 4x4 feels the best because I can stay into it and the egts will stay under 1500. I use level 5 and 6 for smoke shows. Mabye if I mess with the subsettings for level 5 I will find a good compromise?

I drive around on 1x3. responsive, but good mileage.

the only other setting I use is 5x5. I pretty much use it like an on/off switch.

next time I tow, it'll probably be 2x3.

Just bought my buddy's '01 in August and trying to figure out the best setting. Seems like my MPG is pretty crappy compared to my '94 with few mods that gets around 20-21MPG. I'm gettin' 15-16 with my Edge Comp on the '01. Still learning, though. I prefer more smoke and show with the '01 anyhow.

Dang this thing on 5x5 is NUTS! I can only imagine with larger than stock injectors installed.

Does the Comp defuel when it see's high EGT's? Or are there any other safety features built into the Comp?

Not really. Your right foot and watch the gages.

I try to keep egts under 1200° but there is some personal preference. Glad you like the comp. They are fun...

Whats your fuel pressure at level 5 at wide open throttle ? If it isn't at least 7 psi. you stand a good chance of frying your injector pump (vp44) like I did with the drag comp box. If you don't have a pusher pump and just the stock one ,the comp box may take your vp44 out.

I just replaced my VP and installed a Glasier LP system, but because I just got the VP (from Industrial Injection) I did not re-install (clip into the wire) the Edge Comp. I would like to sell the Edge Comp and buy a system I do not have to tap into; any advice? How much could I get for a year old Edge Comp for an '01? Any sugestions where to sell it?
