Guys,

Just chaged the fuel filter after reading several articles here--piece of cake!! My truck ran soooooooo much better. Question is, should I look at the pre screen filter and replace it or inspect it? Also, what else do you check to see if the engine is running like it should?? It feels O. K. but I would like some more power. Everything is stock except for custom 4 inch exhaust, turbo to tail, and I've got 137K on it. Thanks,

Dave

Well I had about 145,000 mile on mine when I opened up the prescreen. It looked good. But I did clean it out. I blew the screens out with compressed air. Check the rubber fuel lines for cracking. I just ordered a fuel pressure adapter from TST to check the fuel pressure. Check and adjust valves.

Dave, if youre not the orig. owner, I'd do the screen. I didnt have to replace mine, I just blew it out with air, then re installed it. You might not be that lucky.

Like Jeff H. said, valves might be a good idea, and the fuel press gauge will tell you more about the lift pump, and overflow valve.

I would check the prescreen. It's not too bad of a job so and it is worth the piece of mind.

I would definitely check the fuel pressure to see where you're at, and then start the BOBMing.

I'm with Hemi, try the better filter next time. I change the fuel filter every 10k miles. I personally wouldn't recommend longer than this, but at the bare minimum every 15k, IMO.

I just checked my pre-screen for the first time at 100K. Easy job and well worth the peace of mind. Mine had significant "junk" in it. Could have been a result of recently working in the fuel sending unit an knocking things loose but it's so easy I plan to check/clean it every time I replace the filter.

Here's a web site with pictures:

Good Luck!
