Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) just checking

I did the ole comp box in the ashtray thing a while back and am just now getting around to "mounting it" with the velcro. So, I had the unit unplugged. I decided to run up the street and I was at 2000 rpm doing 40 mph. I had NO power. Check engine light on with a P1693 companion code.

I got home, plugged it back in and all is normal on 5x5. Turned box off with it plugged in and it was fine. Is this a sign of anything failing or just the computer jacked up being not plugged in to the box? Thanks

Yes. I had my ottomind out briefly while trying out a drag box and got that same code.

Its because when you "Daisychain" the wiring harnesses but don't have a module hooked up , there is no communication though the data link.

BTW the ottomind is a paper weight now.

Nothing to worry about. That was caused by the fact that you are not getting any signal from the map sensor, when you have the comp harness hooked up but not the box. I did the same thing once.

Are there any tricks to running the wiring into the back of the ashtray - hiding the work, basically?

Actually mine came with enough wire harness to come through fire wall,under dash, (below knees) and up to ashtray. Ive heard some arnt long enough. I have a brand new harness that I can measure if someone needs it. (for measurement or to have)
