My Fifth Wheel (2009 Cameo Carriage 36FWS) loaded weighs in at 16,000lbs with a pin weight of 3,500lbs. All weights are within limits and the truck sits level when loaded. I noticed that my truck sits about 4 inches higher in the back than in the front when empty. Does anyone know if dodge did this intentionally? If so why are the 4X4’s level when empty?

My '03 4x4 sits high in the rear end also. When loaded, it sits level like yours. Don't know my pin weight, but trailer total weighs in around 17,800 lbs.

My '08 4x4 sits high in the rear when empty.

You can move some of the blocks between the springs and axle and level a 4x4. I did so with 2004, but chose not to with the 2008.

Ditto, my 01 sits higher in the back, too. As a matter of fact, when I picked up my RV at the dealership, the salesman sat there scratching his head just after we hooked it up. He said, "That can't be! They all squat down lower in the back with a trailer that heavy on them!" My response "Nope, not this truck!" They use Chevys at the dealership to haul them around and I guess they weren't use to a real truck. Mine sits level, too when hooked up. Can't tell for sure if Dodge did this on purpose, but it sure works out well.

All pickups have a rake to them. Thats why most people put spacers on the front to level them out.

Mine sits high in the back too. With the truck camper in the bed it sits level...

Mine to. Some people install a leveling kit. Not me, I like the way it looks, it gives it a little "attitude".

In addition to our trucks being racked, the 3rd generation long bed has a slightly higher bed to top of rail at the back of the bed then the front of the bed. I discovered the difference the first time I loaded my then Lance camper on my 05. I had to add a heavy rubber mat to the bed to get enough clearance. The rubber mat, in addition to the tie downs, was also very good to keep the camper from moving.

Sounds good to me. My trailers must be larger, both the 2003 and my current 1995 DRW needed air bags to ride level. I run 86 pounds of air when pulling my Toy Hauler wthout the bikes. About 70 psi when the garage is loaded with my FJR and DR650. Yep, I'm a bit heavy.

I'm curious when you say your weights are all within limits. My trailer GVW is only 14k and I exceed the gvw of the truck. If you have a loaded toolbox and the usual camping "stuff" hitch,etc. and don't forget to add passengers. I would guess that you exceed the gvw of your truck {truck weight+pin weight} The combination gcwr may be ok. If your truck weighs in at 8,ooo lbs or so and your trailer weighs in at 16,000. Your trailer may weigh less depending on the load you carry. If you are a full time rver you probably are close to the 16k. My truck rides level just like yours. It is much taller in the rear when unloaded.

my truck weights 7880 lbs with all my gear, fuel, wife and I. total weight of the RV is

16k with 3. 5k of it on the pin for a total weight of just under 24K, all within the posted limits.

My truck gvw is 11,500. The gcwr is 23,000 not 24,000. Perhaps the ratings on your truck are different?
