I was trying to hard wire in my radar detector to the over head console on my '02 SLT with no computer. I went to splice my ground into the black wire that goes to the overhead lights which i assumed to be the ground. There was a flash a pop, and then no radio and no other interior lights. Also the console that i had unplugged and off was hooked back up to the plug and nothing so there is no power at the pig tail from the roof. So all told I am out a radio, interior lights, the cupholder light, and cargo lamp. What did I do!!!!!!!!

And i checked every fuse i could think of.

Pull the cover back off the fuse box, you missed one. Take a look at the "IOD" fuse, it stands for ignition off draw. It is in a yellow holde to make it easier to remove when the vehicle is stored for a while (like on the dealers lot) It kills the radio and interior lights.

Here is the fix, been there done that! It took me 4 day to figure out that it was that fuse... ... rated low in head work for me.

you blew the fuse the one with the frame around it there may be two of them check them for the one that is burned . Do get a test light or amp meeter . Black or black with a tracer is normal hot also red is hot too some times . Ground can in most case can be to a screw in to body or frame under the dash or seat frame or light frame or any other part of cab but a amp meeter will tell if it will be a good ground using the oms side of the meeter .
